L & C: Bible translation in a country in Asia / Return assignment

L and C are eager to return to the field as soon as possible but are still waiting in Korea due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, C is participating in the "Korean Language Teacher's Certificate" online course, which can be used as a future ministry tool. Please pray that C will learn well. Pray also for partnership development opportunities as L and C meet with churches and individuals while in Korea. Pray for L and C to always give thanks for the Holy Spirit’s presence in whatever situation they are in.

We thank you for your prayers this past year as we celebrate this strange season of Christmas in a world affected in so many ways by the pandemic. Thank you for partnering with us in intercessory prayer, the most important strategy of the Bible translation ministry this past year. Let us try to spread some love and encouragement especially in this Christmas season to our friends, family and missionaries serving around the world. We wish each of you a special Christmas with blessings from the Lord that will be even richer than before and a New Year filled with God’s peace.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

SRA teams: There are many people involved in language development and translation across SRA, in addition to the three languages located in Muslim majority areas and the training institute. Currently a number of transitions are taking place in SRA’s leadership. Please pray for wisdom, insight and courage for the current and new leaders, especially when challenging situations come up. Ask God for continued good health and protection for all the teams in the SRA region from mosquito-borne dengue fever and from the new wave of Covid-19 infections. Pray also for all SRA colleagues, both local and expatriate, to be filled with joy and overflowing hope as they share the Good News this Christmas season and in 2021. May those who hear the Good News be impacted and transformed!

God’s faithfulness for 50 years: Netherlands
Wycliffe Netherlands continues to carry on the ministry of Bible translation effectively even in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. This is the result of God’s faithfulness. Wycliffe Netherlands celebrated 50 years this summer. God has guided, strengthened and given wisdom all along the way. Staff hosted a celebration via livestream on YouTube, and many people attended online. Wycliffe Netherlands continues to see God’s financial provision even though fundraising is challenging during the pandemic. Thank God, for great is his faithfulness!

50년 동안 함께하신 하나님의 신실하심: 네덜란드

위클리프 네덜란드는 세계적인 대유행병중에도 효과적으로 성경 번역 사역을 지속적으로 섬기고 있습니다. 하나님의 신실하심의 결과입니다. 지난 여름에 창립 50주년을 기념했는데 하나님이 인도하셨고, 힘과 지혜로 그 동안 함께해 주신 것입니다. 사역자들이 유튜브 실시간 방송으로 행사를 개최했고 많은 사람들이 온라인으로 참여했습니다. 대유행병 사태로 재정 모금이 어려운 중에서도 하나님의 예비하심으로 계속 채워주심을 경험하고 있습니다. 오 신실하신 주 하나님 감사합니다!

In spite of the hurdles: Australia
‘Then he [Jesus] said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into his harvest field.”’ (Matthew 9:37-38 NIV) Praise the Lord that in spite of all the hurdles this year, ten new personnel have been welcomed to Wycliffe Australia in the last twelve months, thanks to the efforts of Wycliffe Australia regional offices. The regional offices serve to update churches about the work of Bible translation, recruit new workers and process applications. Some offices have been able to continue activities and events online or even face-to-face, and some have been greatly hampered by the lockdown restrictions. Yet the Lord continues to bring in needed workers. Praise him for his faithfulness in such a challenging year.

장애물에도 불구하고: 호주

이에 제자들에게 이르시되 “추수할 것은 많되 일꾼이 적으니 그러므로 추수하는 주인에게 청하여 추수할 일꾼들을 보내 주소서 하라 하시니라.” (마태 복음 9: 37-38) 올 한해 많은 장애물에도 불구하고 각 지역 사무소들의 동원 노력으로 지난 12 개월 동안 10명의 신임 선교사들이 허입된 것을 인하여 하나님을 찬송합니다. 지역 사무소들은 성경 번역 사역의 진척들을 교회에 보고하고 새로운 일꾼들을 동원하여 허입 행정 절차들을 돕습니다. 어떤 사무소들은 온라인으로 심지어는 대면 사역과 행사들을 계속할 수 있었고 일부는 이동 제한조치로 인하여 큰 어려움을 겪기도 했습니다. 그러나 주님은 계속해서 필요한 일꾼들을 세워주십니다. 그토록 어려운 한해였음에도 불구하고 신실하신 하나님을 찬양합니다.

TRABIBO’s Bobangi Bible Translation team faces difficult, exhausting conditions when traveling to outlying villages for community outreach and translation testing. Pray for God’s provision of the transportation solutions they need.

콩고민주공화국의 보방기 부족어 성경번역팀은 지역사회 봉사활동과 초벌번역 마을 테스트를 위해 오지 마을들을 이동할 때 힘들고 지치는 열악한 상황에 직면합니다. 이 사역에 꼭 필요한 교통수단이 마련되도록 손모아주세요.

This year, many translation teams had to postpone New Testament dedications due to COVID-19 restrictions. Pray for God’s guidance as they wait patiently, hoping to conduct their dedications in the New Year.

올해에 많은 번역팀들이 코로나 사태로 신약성경 봉헌식들을 연기해야 했습니다. 새해에는 봉헌할 수 있기를 고대하며 인내심을 갖고 기다리는데 하나님의 인도하심이 있기를 기도해주세요.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14a). As we celebrate the birthday of our Savior, pray for all who have not yet heard the Good News.
