박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 파푸아뉴기니 카니누와족 성경번역

지난 9월 중에 알로타우 센터에서 있었던 “성경 주요 용어” 워크숍에 나이 든 잭과 레비 형제가 참석하여 영어로 진행된 쉽지 않은 세션들을 잘 마치고 수료증까지 받을 수 있었음에 하나님을 찬양합니다. 멀리 오스트리아에서 온 강사와, 현지인 번역가들의 참가비, 숙박 및 여행 경비 등을 후원해 준 세계 각 처의 동역 단체들과 개인들의 도움으로 이 일이 가능하게 되었습니다. 카니누와 번역팀이 디모데전 후서, 디도서, 빌레몬서, 유다서 및 야고보서를 번역 중인데 두 형제가 워크숍에서 훈련받은 것을 잘 적용할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요

Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea (PNG)

Praise God that older brothers Jack and Levi attended the "Key Biblical Terms" workshop at the Alotau Center during September and were able to complete the challenging sessions in English classes and receive a certificate of completion. This was made possible by the generous support of partner organizations and individuals from around the world donated funds for the registration fees, lodging, and travel expenses of Kaninuwa translators, and an instructor from Austria. Pray for the Kaninuwa team as they translate 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Jude, and James. We would invite you to also pray for the two brothers, that they will be able to apply the training they received during the workshop

캐나다와 한국 5기 영어 튜터링 프로그램

지난 9월 초부터 시작했던 한국성경번역선교회(GBT, 위클리프한국) 사역자들의 영어 능력 향상을 위한 튜터링 프로그램 5기가 하나님의 은혜로 11월 8일에 잘 마쳤습니다. 지속적으로 참가자들의 영어실력이 향상되고 있음과 교사들 역시 한국의 문화에 대해 배우고 있음에 감사드립니다. 무엇보다 선후배 선교사들 사이에 서로 삶을 나누고 사역과 삶의 도전 가운데도 각자 속한 자신의 문화와 사역 대상의 문화 속에 역사하시는 하나님의 은혜를 나누게 되었음에 감사드립니다. 두 단체 간에 지속적인 협력과 프로그램의 발전을 위해, 또한 후속 모임을 위해 노력 중인 양국 코디네이터 팀을 위해 기도해 주세요.

WBTC-GBT the 5th English tutoring program

By God's grace, the fifth season of the tutoring program for improving the conversational English skills of GBT (Wycliffe Korea) workers from Korea began in early September and was successfully completed on November 8. We are thankful that the participants' English skills are steadily improving and that the tutors of Wycliffe Canada are learning more about Korean culture. Most of all, we are thankful that the senior and junior missionaries were able to share their lives and see God's grace at work in their own culture and in the culture of those they serve, even amid ministry and life challenges. Pray for continued cooperation and program development between the two Wycliffe organizations and the coordinating team, as they desire to continue serving both parties.

실크 로드 프로젝트: 성경번역, 보안지역 (수신자 이외에 배포하거나 온라인에 게시하지 말아주세요)

W 프로젝트: 실크로드 프로젝트의 리더들은 이제 이 지역의 또 다른 언어 공동체를 섬기기 위해 새로운 프로젝트를 시작합니다. 약 160만 명으로 추산되는 “북부W” 소수민족은 인구 중 글을 읽을 수 있는 남성이 2% 미만이며, 여성은 거의 없습니다. 이 지역의 5개 언어 그룹은 현재 자기네 말로 번역된 신약성경을 가지고 있으므로, 우선 이 언어 공동체 중 한 곳에서 문맹 퇴치 프로그램을 통해 구전 성경 이야기를 만들어 여성들에게 하나님의 말씀을 소개할 것입니다. 이 프로그램의 다른 요소에는 가정 내 보건 및 위생 관념에 대한 교육과 가족의 필요를 위해 경제적으로 기여할 수 있는 재봉 수업이 포함됩니다. 향후 3년 동안 6개의 마을 센터에서 평일 저녁 2시간 동안 여성교육 프로그램이 진행될 예정입니다. 이 여성들이 습득한 기술을 통해 옷, 침대 시트, 베개 커버 등을 직접 바느질하고 가내 사업도 시작할 수 있게 될 것입니다. 구전 성경 이야기 제작과 그들의 삶을 향상시킬 훈련 프로그램들을 통해 “북부 W” 사람들을 섬길 수 있는 기회를 주신 하나님께 감사드립니다. 사람들의 마음을 준비시켜 주시고, 이 프로젝트를 주도하는 사람들에게 은혜를 베푸시며, 복음에 저항하는 이 지역에서 하나님의 말씀이 선포될 수 있는 문을 열어 주시도록, 아울러 “북부 W” 공동체 여성과 가족들의 삶을 개선하는 동시에 문해력과 성경에 기반한 문맹 퇴치를 위한 다른 아이디어들을 모색하는 사역팀에게 지혜와 바른길을 인도해 주시도록 기도해 주세요.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area(Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

W Project: Leaders of the SRA project are now expanding efforts to serve another language group in the region, called “Northern W”. Of the estimated 1.6 million “Northern W” people, fewer than two per cent of the men are literate and virtually none of the women can read. Five language groups in the region now have their own New Testament, so initially, literacy programs in one of these language groups will include the creation of oral Bible stories to introduce God’s Word to women. Other elements of the program will include education on health and hygiene practices in the home, as well as sewing classes that will enable them to contribute economically to family needs. Over the next three years, six village centres will host the women’s program, to be held for two hours on weekday evenings. The skills these women acquire will enable them to sew their own clothes, bedsheets, pillow covers and so on, and even begin a home-based business. Thank the Lord for opportunities to serve the “Northern W” people, through the production of oral Bible stories and training programs that will enhance their lives. Ask God to prepare hearts, grant favour to those spearheading the project, and open doors for the proclamation of His Word in this region so resistant to the gospel. Please pray for wisdom and direction for the team, as they explore other ideas to promote literacy and Scripture-based literate, while helping “Northern W” women and families improve their lives.

알프레도와 데이지 브리토 부부는 동남아시아에서 일하는데 파나마 성경 번역 동역 단체를 비롯한 미주 대륙에서 자신들을 위해 “기도의 끈“ 을 잡아주는 기도 후원자 한 사람 한 사람을 인해 하나님께 감사드립니다. 9년 넘게 현지에서 사역하는 동안 하나님께서 그들을 붙드시고, 그들을 격려하기 위해 사람들을 보내주셨고, 그들의 필요를 기적적으로 채워 주셨습니다. 때로 그들이 겪고 있는 일을 오직 주님만이 아셨기에 기도에 능력이 있음을 믿고 자신들뿐 아니라 기도로 그들과 동역하는 이들과 함께 기도하는 것 외에는 아무것도 할 수 없을 때도 있었습니다. 여러 차례 건강상의 문제나 행정적인 문제들에 대한 긴급 기도제목들을 나누었고, 늘 신실하게 함께해 주신 분들이 있었습니다. 이 동역자들은 기도 뿐만 아니라 그들을 격려하며 알프레도와 데이지를 위해 주님께 기도하는 음성 메시지를 보내 주기도 합니다. 브리토 선교사 가정은 하나님께서 이렇게 기도에 매번 응답하시는 것을 보았습니다. 알프레도와 데이지, 그리고 국제 기도 동역자 팀의 삶에 나타난 기도의 능력에 대한 소중한 간증을 허락하신 하나님께 영광을 돌리도록, 타문화권에서 섬기는 성경 번역 사역자로 섬기는 모든 일꾼들에게도 이와 같은 동일한 하나님의 역사가 나타나도록 기도해 주세요.

Sustained by prayer: Panama

Alfredo and Daisy Brito serve with PAAM (Panameños Alcanzando al Mundo) in Southeast Asia. They thank God for each person who “holds the prayer rope” for them from Panama and other parts of the Americas. Throughout more than nine years in the field, God has sustained them, has sent people to encourage them and has miraculously provided for them. At times, only God knew what they were going through and all they could think about was that prayer has power—not just their own prayers, but from all those who partner with them in prayer. On several occasions they shared urgent requests for health issues or paperwork, and there have always been people who faithfully come alongside them. These partners not only pray but also encourage them and even send voice messages with their prayers to the Lord on Alfredo and Daisy’s behalf. The Britos have seen God answer these prayers every time. Give glory to God for this precious testimony of the power of prayer in the lives of Alfredo and Daisy and their international team of prayer partners. Pray that God will provide similar prayer support for all those serving as cross-cultural workers in the Bible translation movement.

Growing prayer through social media: Slovakia

Staff members at Wycliffe Slovakia thank God for their faithful followers on social media where they share many prayer needs. Pray that those who use this information to pray for the Bible translation movement would be encouraged as they see prayers answered. Ask God to make them bold to share these needs with people in their churches and other Christian groups to increase the number of people praying and engaging with the Bible translation movement. Pray that the team will have wisdom to know how to grow their social media following.

Pray for our two Sea Operations Fellows as they work with the Sea Operations team on developing video training materials.

Pray that the love and grace of God will be very present and evident through effective teamwork across JAARS as we work together in unity with our partners in ministry.

Ask God’s blessing as we strive to build stronger relationships with all the aviation training organizations—large and small—nationwide: to help them effectively train the next generation of mission aviators.
