크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 나스카피 / 빌과 노르마 진 선교사(긴급 기도부탁)

 

빌 선교사 부부는 원주민 문해 사역과 성경 번역 지원을 위한 워크숍을 인도하기 위해 지난 4월 11일부터 퀘벡 북부 카와와치까맠의 나스카피 마을에 머물고 있었는데, 4월 16일 아침 12세 소녀가 빌 선교사 부부가 머물고 있는 건물 맞은편 학교에서 자살한 채 발견된 비극이 닥친 후, 하나님은 전혀 다른 방식으로 원주민 마을을 섬기게 하셨습니다. 

 

 

마을 공동체는 충격과 트라우마 모드에 빠져 있고, 문해 사역과 번역 워크숍은 유가족의 필요에 집중하기 위해 모두 중단되었습니다. 빌 선교사 부부는 소녀의 시신이 안치된 병원으로 가서 모여 있던 가족들과 함께 기도해 달라는 요청을 받았고, 오후에는 자살 사건이 일어난 학교 뒤편에서 촛불 집회를 열고, 빌 선교사에게 추모 기도회를 인도하고 성경을 읽어 달라는 요청을 받았습니다. 카와와치까맠의 나스카피 공동체와 자살한 소녀의 부모를 위해 기도해 주세요. 소녀의 이름은 샌드라였고 부모는 조앤과 그렉입니다. 빌 선교사의 자녀들이 세상을 떠난 소녀의 어머니인 조앤과 함께 이곳에서 함께 생활했던 친구 관계입니다. 이 어려운 슬픔의 때에 빌 선교사 가정이 그곳에 있는 동안 공동체 구성원들 안에서 성령의 역사에 계속 민감할 수 있도록, 빌 선교사 팀이 4월 22일에 마을을 떠날 예정인데 온타리오로 귀임하는 여행길의 안전과 건강을 지켜주시도록 기도해 주세요.

 

Cree initiative: Naskapi / Bill & Norma Jean (urgent prayer request)

Bill and Norma Jean have been staying in the Naskapi community of Kawawachikamach in Northern Quebec since April 11 for a workshop for local language literacy and Bible translation support—but God has them serving differently now after tragedy struck the morning of April 16: a 12-year-old girl was discovered having committed suicide behind the school (across the street from the place they are staying). The community is in shock and trauma mode. The literacy and translation workshop has been all set aside to focus on the needs of the family and the children. Norma Jean and Bill were called to come to the clinic where the girl’s body was taken to pray with the family that had gathered. Then, in the afternoon, there was a gathering behind the school at the location of the suicide, and Bill was asked to lead a prayer service there and read scripture. Please pray for the Naskapi community of Kawawachikamach and the parents of this girl. The girl’s name was Xandra (it sounds like Sandra), and her parents were Joanne and Greg. Bill and Norma Jean’s children grew up here with Joanne, the mother of the girl who passed away. Please pray that they will continue to be sensitive to the Spirit’s work in the community members during these difficult times of grieving. Pray also for travel mercies, as Bill’s team will leave on April 22.
