박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 파푸아뉴기니 카니누와족 성경번역
카니누와 번역팀은 지난 4월 10일부터 알로타우 센터에서 시작된 바울 서신 웍샵에 참여하고 있습니다. 세 명의 카니누와 번역가들(잭, 레비, 사이몬)을 포함하여 6개 다른 종족에서 온 16명이 참가하고 있고, 앞으로 2주 동안 디도서와 빌레몬서를 공부하며 각자의 언어로 번역하게 됩니다. 특별히 팀을 인도하는 라이너 선교사(오스트리아)와 참가자 모두에게 힘과 지혜를 주시도록 기도해 주시고, 이번 기회에 배운 지식이 앞으로 서신서들을 번역할 때 의미 있게 잘 사용되도록 기도해 주세요.

Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea (PNG)
The Kaninuwa team has participated in a workshop for the Epistles at the Alotau Center since last Wednesday, April 10. There are 16 participants from 6 tribes, including 3 Kaninuwa translators (Jack, Levi, and Simon). They studied Titus and Philemon for two weeks and translated them into their mother tongues. Please pray for strength and wisdom from the consultant Reiner (Austria), who is leading the team, and for all the participants so that the knowledge gained will be used meaningfully in future translations of the Epistles.

카이로스 코스와 완수할 이야기: 토론토/온타리오
지난 4월 10일부터 9주 동안 토론토 지역 카이로스 한국어 코스가 밀알교회(박형일 담임 목사)에서 열리며 서너 교회가 협력하여 진행하고 있음에 감사드립니다. 단기 선교에 참가자들을 위한 훈련도 되고, 지역의 선교 동원 운동으로도 계속 확장될 수 있도록 기도해 주시고, 무엇보다 선교가 일회성 행사가 아니라 삶으로 자리매김 될 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 카이로스 코스의 축약 본인 TUSfY (완수할 이야기, The Unfinished Story for Youth)도 토론토참소망교회(손명수 담임 목사)에서 시작되었습니다. 앞으로 이글스필드한인교회(장성훈 담임 목사)와 밀알교회에서 또 진행될 예정인데 특히 청소년들로부터 장년 / 시니어에 이르기까지 단기간에 받을 수 있는 훈련으로 잘 정착될 수 있도록, 이 일을 섬기는 이규준 / 한진숙 선교사 부부와 또 동역하는 여러 조력자들과 교회 리더들이 함께 섬길 수 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Kairos Korean Course & TUSfY: Toronto/Ontario
We are thankful that Kairos course in the Toronto area is being held at Milal Church (Rev. Hyung Il Park, senior pastor) for nine weeks starting April 10 and is being organized in partnership with three or four churches. Pray that participants in the short-term missions of Milal Church and Toronto True Hope Church (Rev. Moses Son, senior pastor) will be trained well in God's Mission, that it will continue to expand into a local missions mobilization movement, and most importantly, that God's Mission will become their way of life rather than a one-time short-term event. We are also thankful that TUSfY (The Unfinished Story for Youth), an abbreviated version of the Kairos course, was well carried out last week at Toronto True Hope Church. TUSfY will be held at Eaglesfield Community Church (Rev. Sunghoon Jang, senior pastor) and Milal Church in May and June. Pray it will be well established, especially as a short-term mission training for youth and seniors. Pray for Gyoojun and Jinsook as they serve these programs with other facilitators and church leaders.

크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 나스카피 / 빌과 노르마 진 선교사(긴급 기도부탁)
빌 선교사 부부는 원주민 문해 사역과 성경 번역 지원을 위한 워크숍을 인도하기 위해 지난 4월 11일부터 퀘벡 북부 카와와치까맠의 나스카피 마을에 머물고 있었는데, 4월 16일 아침 12세 소녀가 빌 선교사 부부가 머물고 있는 건물 맞은편 학교에서 자살한 채 발견된 비극이 닥친 후, 하나님은 전혀 다른 방식으로 원주민 마을을 섬기게 하셨습니다. 마을 공동체는 충격과 트라우마 모드에 빠져 있고, 문해 사역과 번역 워크숍은 유가족의 필요에 집중하기 위해 모두 중단되었습니다. 빌 선교사 부부는 소녀의 시신이 안치된 병원으로 가서 모여 있던 가족들과 함께 기도해 달라는 요청을 받았고, 오후에는 자살 사건이 일어난 학교 뒤편에서 촛불 집회를 열고, 빌 선교사에게 추모 기도회를 인도하고 성경을 읽어 달라는 요청을 받았습니다. 카와와치까맠의 나스카피 공동체와 자살한 소녀의 부모를 위해 기도해 주세요. 소녀의 이름은 샌드라였고 부모는 조앤과 그렉입니다. 빌 선교사의 자녀들이 세상을 떠난 소녀의 어머니인 조앤과 함께 이곳에서 함께 생활했던 친구 관계입니다. 이 어려운 슬픔의 때에 빌 선교사 가정이 그곳에 있는 동안 공동체 구성원들 안에서 성령의 역사에 계속 민감할 수 있도록, 빌 선교사 팀이 4월 22일에 마을을 떠날 예정인데 온타리오로 귀임하는 여행길의 안전과 건강을 지켜주시도록 기도해 주세요.

Cree initiative: Naskapi / Bill & Norma Jean (urgent prayer request)
Bill and Norma Jean have been staying in the Naskapi community of Kawawachikamach in Northern Quebec since April 11 for a workshop for local language literacy and Bible translation support—but God has them serving differently now after tragedy struck the morning of April 16: a 12-year-old girl was discovered having committed suicide behind the school (across the street from the place they are staying). The community is in shock and trauma mode. The literacy and translation workshop has been all set aside to focus on the needs of the family and the children. Norma Jean and Bill were called to come to the clinic where the girl’s body was taken to pray with the family that had gathered. Then, in the afternoon, there was a gathering behind the school at the location of the suicide, and Bill was asked to lead a prayer service there and read scripture. Please pray for the Naskapi community of Kawawachikamach and the parents of this girl. The girl’s name was Xandra (it sounds like Sandra), and her parents were Joanne and Greg. Bill and Norma Jean’s children grew up here with Joanne, the mother of the girl who passed away. Please pray that they will continue to be sensitive to the Spirit’s work in the community members during these difficult times of grieving. Pray also for travel mercies, as Bill’s team will leave on April 22.

팀 워크와 전략적 조직 검토: 위클리프 카리브해
위클리프 카리브해 팀은 최근 지원 사역팀, 번역가, 인턴십 지원자들과 함께 성공적인 팀 빌딩 세션을 가지고 본부 사역자들도 전략적 조직 검토를 시작했습니다. 사역자들과 이사회 멤버들은 SWOT(강점, 약점, 기회들과 위협) 분석을 완료했으며 단체의 비전, 사명 및 핵심 가치를 검토할 것입니다. (1) 본부와 각국 대표들을 위한 방향성과 지원을 제공하게 될 네 명의 새 선교사들을 포함한 위클리프 카리브해 이사회를 위해 (2) 하나님께서 본부팀의 주요 공석을 채울 인력들을 보내 주시기를 (3) 벨리즈, 자메이카, 산안드레스와 같은 이 지역의 번역 팀들과 바베이도스, 트리니다드 토바고, 세인트빈센트 그레나딘에서 동원 중인 팀들을 위해 (4) 전략적 검토를 진행하는 사역팀을 위한 하나님의 지혜와 인도하심이 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Team building and strategic organizational review: Wycliffe Caribbean
Wycliffe Caribbean recently conducted a successful team-building session with support staff, translators, and internship candidates. The head office staff have also commenced a strategic organizational review. Staff and board members have completed a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis and will engage in a review of the vision, mission, and core values. Please pray for (1) The Wycliffe Caribbean board, including four new members, as they provide direction and support for the head office and the national teams; (2) That God would provide persons to fill key vacancies on the office team; (3) The translation teams in the region – Belize, Jamaica and San Andres – as well as for teams being recruited in Barbados, Trinidad, Tobago and St. Vincent & the Grenadines; and (4) God's wisdom, guidance and direction for the team doing the strategic review.

지도자, 목회자, 원주민 신자들을 위한 번역과 성경 활용 훈련: 콜롬비아
세라냐 델 파리야 지역의 육파 언어권과 함께 진행하는 번역 프로젝트는 번역된 성경을 가르칠 지도자, 목회자, 원주민 신자들을 훈련하는 데 중점을 두고 있습니다. 육파 프로젝트는 푸에블로스 마기나도스 재단(FDPM)과 협력하여 운영 중입니다. 성경 번역을 위해 지역 교회들과 원주민 교회들이 서로 연합하게 하신 하나님을 찬양합니다. 많은 육파 언어권의 지도자들과 목회자들이 성경을 활용하고 복음을 전하는 훈련을 받았고, 이로 인해 더 많은 신자들이 생겨나고, 사람들 간의 화해가 일어나고, 1년 넘게 문을 닫았던 원주민 교회가 다시 모이기 시작했습니다. 재단은 창세기, 출애굽기, 요한복음, 사도행전의 번역과 교육을 계속하기를 원하는 원주민 교회들을 인해, 그리고 요한복음, 창세기, 룻기, 요나서를 기초한 입문서 편집과 몇 달 전 제작된 창세기의 동영상을 인해 하나님께 감사드립니다. 이 모든 자료들은 신자들이 자기네 언어로 사람들과 복음을 나누는 데 큰 도움이 되었습니다.

Equipping leaders, pastors, and indigenous believers in translation and Scripture use: Colombia
A translation project with the Yukpa group of Serranía del Perijá is focused on equipping leaders, pastors, and indigenous believers to teach from translated Scripture. The Yukpa project is carried out in partnership with Fundación para los Pueblos Marginados (FDPM). Praise God for unity among national and indigenous churches involved in Bible translation. More Yukpa leaders and pastors have been trained in using the Scriptures and evangelism, leading to more believers in the churches, reconciled people, and the reopening of an indigenous congregation that had been closed for more than a year. FDPM thanks God for the indigenous church that desires to continue with the translation and teaching of the books of Genesis, Exodus, John, and Acts, as well as the production of primers based on John, Genesis, Ruth, and Jonah, and the video of Genesis that was made a few months ago. All these materials have helped believers share the gospel with people in their language.

For almost 75 years, JAARS has been a leader in mission aviation—serving in the most remote and difficult places on Earth. Many of the language groups that still lack God’s Word are the hardest to reach. Picture endless miles of rainforest and rugged mountains—with unpredictable weather, no support system, and airstrips carved out by hand. Flying safely in these environments is one of the toughest jobs on earth, and it’s at the core of what God has called JAARS to do. Please pray for the maintenance needs of our fleet of aircraft, the pilots, mechanics, and avionics technicians who need our specialized training, and for acquiring qualified staff.
