Toward Diaspora Translation (TDT)

TDT is a pilot project in Bible translation targeting 10 diaspora language groups in 8 mega cities of North America. Gyoojun is participating in this project and will be attending the training conference in Dallas throughout this whole week. Please pray for the advancement of this project and God's guidance as to which language group in the Greater Toronto Area should be in focus.

북미 8개 대도시 안에 아직도 성경 번역이 필요한 10 개 언어를 대상으로 성경번역을 시도하려는 TDT 운동이 새롭게 전개되고 있습니다. 이 사역에 참여하고 있는 이규준 선교사가 이번 한 주 동안 달라스에서 사역을 위한 훈련을 받습니다. 사역에 진척이 이뤄지고 성령의 인도하심과 대상 언어 공동체와의 만남을 위해 기도해 주세요.

Korean Kairos Course: Toronto

The Korean Kairos course (GTA area) will be held at The Young Nak Church of Toronto (Rev. Minho Song, senior pastor). It runs from February 21 to April 11, every Tuesday evening and one full day on Saturday, April 1. Please pray that many people will be able to join and that, as a result, participants and their churches will be challenged to live missional lives. Pray too that the mission mobilization movement will continue through the use of the Kairos course in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We covet your prayers for Gyoojun & Jinsook Lee and other facilitators that they might work well together. They desire to share the vision for Bible translation during the course. 

한국어 카이로스 코스: 광역 토론토 지역

오는 4월 25일부터 6월 13일까지 토론토영락교회 (송민호 담임목사) 에서 카이로스 코스가 열립니다. 매주 화요일 저녁 7:30~10시에 진행되며, 6월 3일(토)에는 오전 9시~오후 6시까지 종일 코스로 진행됩니다. 많은 분들이 동참하여 광역 토론토 지역에 계속해서 카이로스 코스를 통한 선교 동원 운동이 일어나도록, 참가자들과 교회가 더욱 더 선교적인 삶 살게 되도록, 다른 조력자들과 함께 섬기는 이규준, 한진숙 선교사가 팀과 함께 섬기면서 성경번역 선교의 비전도함께 잘 나눠지도록 기도해 주세요.

30 Days of Prayer for Muslims in Canada

We thankfully share the prayer request items for Muslims in Canada during the Ramadan period, developed by Loving Muslims Together. We hope you will become a part of the prayer movement for Muslims, also praying for Bible translation projects carried on for language groups with Islamic belief around the world, especially in some parts of Africa, Middle Asia, South East Asia, and the Muslim diaspora scattered around the world.

Loving Muslims Together 단체에서 만든 30일간 무슬림을 위한 기도제목을 공유합니다. 라마다 기간 중에 주변의 무슬림 이웃과의 사랑과 복음 나눔을 위해, 현재 중앙아시아, 아프리카, 동남아시아 등 세계 여러 지역에서 무슬림 권 언어 민족들을 위한 성경번역 프로젝트를 위해 특별히 기도하는 기간이 되시길 바랍니다.

Cree initiative: Naskapi

A wonderful answer to the prayer for new, younger members for the translation team occurred in the hiring of the new NDC Cultural Development Officer, Marianne Chescappio. Bill Jancewicz writes:

…since 2020 there have been no full time language workers at the Naskapi Development Corporation (NDC), the local agency that sponsors the Naskapi project. This fall, the NDC leadership decided to make a fresh start in rebuilding their language and culture department. They began by creating a new professional-level position that they called the “NDC Cultural Development Officer”, and the NDC hired Marianne Chescappio [a former student in the Teacher-Training program] to this role, and in January she began her training and mentorship under my guidance. Marianne shares her feelings about her new role: “I feel happy and privileged—I have always wanted to have this kind of job, working with our language and gaining capacity in these skills that are so connected with our identity as Naskapi people. Working with the translation helps my self-esteem and my own mental health, being a part of connecting our people with the Creator and our culture.”

Please pray for the student interns - Jonah and Allison – as they finish up their internship and safe travel back to Chicago in mid-April. Silas asks for continued prayer for his wife Susan, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Pray also for the team check of Deuteronomy has been completed, but another step of “wider team checking” has been added to include new team member Marianne.

크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 나스카피

번역팀의 새로운 젊은 일꾼을 위한 기도의 응답으로 나스카피 문화 개발 책임자인 마리안 사역자가 새로운 팀원으로 합류하게 되었습니다. 빌 선교사의 간증입니다:

“...2020년부터 나스카피 프로젝트를 후원하는 현지 기관인 나스카피 개발공사 (NDC) 에는 언어담당 전업 사역자가 없었습니다. 작년 가을 NDC 운영진은 언어 및 문화 담당관 직을 신설하고 새로운 출발을 하기로 결정했습니다. 그들은 'NDC 문화 개발 책임자'라는 전문가급 직책을 신설하는 것으로 정하고, 과거에 나스카피 모어 교사 연수 프로그램에 참여했던 마리안을 이 담당관으로 채용했으며, 지난 1월 저의 지도 아래 연수 및 멘토링을 시작 했습니다. 마리안은 새로운 역할에 대한 소감을 이렇게 말합니다: "귀한 직분을 맡게되어 행복하고 영광스럽게 생각합니다. 항상 이런 사역으로 섬기고 싶었고, 제가 원주민으로서의 정체성과 밀접한 관련이 있는 우리 언어로 일하며 이러한 사역 기술을 습득할 수 있는 능력을 키우고 싶었습니다. 번역 사역은 우리 민족과 창조주 및 원주민 문화를 연결하는 데 일조하면서 제 자존감과 정신 건강에도 도움이 됩니다."

학생 인턴인 조나와 앨리슨 부부가 인턴십을 마치고 4월 중순에 시카고로 안전하게 돌아갈 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 사일러스는 작년에 유방암 진단을 받고 치료중인 아내 수잔을 위해 계속 기도해 달라고 요청해 왔습니다. 또한 신명기 초벌 점검은 마쳤지만, 새로운 팀원인 마리안을 포함한 '광역 팀 점검' 절차가 추가되었는데 이를 위해 함께 기도해 주세요.

Prayer and financial support for Bible translation projects: Singapore, Indonesia
Praise the Lord for Wycliffe Singapore’s “R200 Program” that has helped raise prayer and financial support for the Simar Cluster Project in Indonesia since 2019. The project’s seven language groups celebrated completion of the Gospel of Luke and the JESUS Film in each of their languages in August 2022. Praise God for the participation of local churches and translation organizations both in Singapore and Indonesia that continue to work together to see God’s Word translated into these languages. Pray for strength and wisdom as the teams meet regularly for workshops, testing the translations and promoting Scripture use in their communities. Ask God to bless the teams’ plans: a website for each language to make resources easily accessible, production of materials to help the local churches, and beginning translations for the entire New Testament. 

성경 번역 프로젝트를 위한 기도와 재정 지원: 싱가포르, 인도네시아

2019년부터 인도네시아 시마 언어권 프로젝트를 위해 기도와 재정 모금에 데 도움을 준 위클리프 싱가폴 “R200 프로그램"을 인하여 주님을 찬양합니다. 작년 8월 이 프로젝트의 7 개 언어 그룹에서 누가 복음을 봉헌하고 예수영화 또한 각 각의 모어로 번역되었습니다. 하나님의 말씀이 이 여러 언어들로 번역되도록 싱가폴과 인도네시아의 지역 교회들과 번역 기관들이 연합하여 함께 섬기게 됨을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 하나님께서 팀이 워크샾을 위해 정기적으로 모여 번역을 점검하고 공동체의 성경 활용을 장려하는 중에 서로에게 힘과 지혜 주시도록, 각 언어들이 자료들을 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 웹사이트 만들기, 지역 교회들을 돕기 위한 자료 개발, 신역 성경 전체 번역의 시작 등 하고자 하는 계획들을 계속해서 축복해 주시도록 기도해 주세요.

People Conversation: Global
the past decades have seen profound changes in how the global church thinks about its participation in God’s Mission. This warrants deep reflection on how people can best participate in the Bible translation movement in the future and what the future role of Alliance organizations should be. The Global People Conversation allows Alliance organizations to grapple with these questions through a series of regional events. The Europe event took place in January, an Americas gathering will take place in April, followed by Asia-Pacific in July, and Africa in August. In November representatives from all regions will process the work of the regional conversations. Pray for wisdom and imagination from God to collectively discern the way forward with the People Participation Stream. Pray for each participating organization as they consider how best to implement changes they feel prompted to make as a result of what they have learned from God and others.
