L & C: Bible translation in a sensitive area of Asia / remote assignment

We want to celebrate L's 20 years of faithful ministry in Bible translation, with praises to our Lord and many thanks to partners like you! Recently L has been doing a lot of key-terms related work while the whole team is translating Genesis in the Z language. Please pray for God's special wisdom for L in addressing the right ideas with key terms such as sin, evil, repentance, etc. He will work closely with national translators, using his skills in doing biblical exegesis. We are also thankful for C as she continues her learning of the national Language while teaching Korean and sharing the Good News with her national language tutor. Pray that L and C will make good progress in their learning of the national language and the target language, whether in person or via zoom. 

L and C 선교사: 성경번역, 아시아 보안지역 / 원격 사역

L 선교사가 지난 2003년에 위클리프 캐나다 선교사로 허입되어 20년 동안 성경번역 사역에 근속한 것을 축하드리며, 동역자 여러분들께와 인도해주신 주님께 감사와 찬송을 올려드립니다! L 선교사는 팀과 함께 창세기 번역을 해가면서, 최근에는 죄, 악, 회개 등등과 같은 성경의 주요 용어 결정에 많은 일을 하고 있습니다. 주요 용어 결정 과정에 L 선교사가 기여하고 있는 주해 부분이 아주 중요한 역할을 합니다. 하나님께서 L 선교사에게 특별한 지혜를 주셔서 현지인 번역자들에게 주요 용어의 개념들을 잘 나눌 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. C 선교사는 계속해서 C국 공용어를 배우며, 동시에 한국어도 가르칠 뿐 아니라, 기쁜소식도 함께 나누고 있음에 감사드립니다! L선교사와 C 선교사가 각각 원격으로 대상 언어와 대면으로 현지 공용어를 배워갈 때 진전이 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Gyoojun and Jinsook Lee: Director of the Diaspora Engagement team

Gyoojun & Jinsook will provide short-term training for Eaglesfield Community Church (Rev. Sung Hoon Jang, senior pastor). Please pray for God's wisdom for them as they share the main content, in the allotted time. They are to equip the participants re. Their upcoming vision trip to the Dominican Republic to serve Haitian refugees. Pray also for good health and time management as they move into a condo this weekend knowing that Gyoojun is leaving for the Dominican Republic next week on a vision trip team from his home church, Toronto True Hope Church (Rev. Myung-Soo Son, senior pastor).

5/19일에 이글스필드 한인교회(장성훈 담임목사) 단기 사역을 위한 선교훈련을 섬기게 됩니다. 주어진 시간 안에 비전 여행(소위 단기선교)에 대한 주요 내용 및 필요한 내용들을 잘 나눌 수 있도록 기도해 주시고, 이글스필드교회와 계속해서 왕성한 동역이 이어지도록 기도해 주세요. 주말에는 이사가 있고, 이 선교사가 다음 주에는 파송교회인 토론토참소망교회(손명수 담임목사)의 단기 팀과 함께 도미니카 공화국에서 아이티 난민을 섬기는 사역을 위해 떠나게 되는데, 건강하게 모든 일들 잘 감당하도록 기도해 주세요.

Kingdom Friendship 

Cree initiative: Oji-Cree & Bible Camp Repairs

Since the 1980’s, the church in Kingfisher Lake has been maintaining a Bible camp across a nearby lake and using it for training indigenous church leaders and for running family camps. Recently the water levels have reached record highs and the camp flooded, leaving 11 cabins beyond repair. The church is fundraising to replace the camp facilities, and plans to bring up new cabins on the winter road next year. Please continue to pray that God will use this place for His kingdom purposes. Praise the Lord for the first copies of John’s Epistles! They will soon be available publicly. Also, praise for the completed editing of an audio version of Mark, and an IOS version of the Oji-Cree Bible app. Praise for the completed translation of a few key services (from the Anglican prayer book) so that the services can be conducted more easily in Oji-Cree. Praise the Lord that Susan was able to come back as a translator, and that Tyler, who speaks Oji-Cree well and has some experience working with digital media, has also been hired. 

크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 오지-크리 / 성경 캠프 보수

80년대부터 킹피셔 레이크의 한 교회는 인근 호수 건너편에 성경 캠프를 운영하며 원주민 교회 지도자 훈련과 가족 캠프 운영에 사용해 왔습니다. 기후 변화로 인하여 최근 호수의 수위가 사상 최고치를 기록하면서 캠프가 침수되어 11개의 오두막이 모두 수리 불가능한 상태로 파손되었습니다. 교회는 캠프 시설을 새로 교체하기 위해 모금을 진행하고 있으며, 내년에 새로운 오두막들을 지을 계획입니다. 이곳이 하나님의 나라 사역를 위해 사용되도록 계속 기도해 주세요. 요한 서신서의 초벌 번역본이 완성되었음을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다! 곧 공개될 예정입니다. 마가복음의 오디오 버전과 오지-크리 부족어 성경 앱의 애플 호환용 버전 편집이 완료되어 감사합니다. 성공회 기도 예식서에서 몇 가지 주요 예배용 자료를 번역하여 오지-크리 모어로 더 쉽게 예배를 드릴 수 있게 되어 하나님을 찬송합니다. 현지인 사역자 수잔이 모어 번역가로 다시 복귀할 수 있게 하시고, 최근 오지-크리어를 잘 구사하고 디지털 미디어에 대한 경험이 있는 타일러를 새로 영입한 것을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다.

Contributing to Bible translation one verse at a time: Paraguay
LETRA Paraguay is an Alliance organization dedicated to Bible translation, literacy and a comprehensive mission to the language communities of Paraguay and the world. Like many Alliance organizations, LETRA Paraguay staff face challenges of how to maintain translation programs. Who pays for salaries, fuel, printing, computers, travel and the printing of thousands of hardcover Bibles? To help cover the cost of translation projects, LETRA Paraguay has created the “Donate a Verse” program and invited people to participate. They have estimated that only $8 USD is needed for one verse to be translated. By taking part in this program and contributing to the translation of one or more verses, a person receives a book in PDF format from LETRA Publishing House, which publishes content ranging from devotionals to testimonies from missionaries in the field. Pray that many people may show their generosity by joining the program and donating gifts that enable the translation and printing of Bible verses, until the entire Bible is translated into all the native languages of Paraguay and other regions of the world. 

한 번에 한 구절씩 성경 번역에 참여: 파라과이

레트라 파라과이는 파라과이 및 세계 언어 공동체를 위해 성경 번역, 문해 및 포괄적인 선교에 전념하는 국제 연대 단체입니다. 많은 국제 연대 단체들과 마찬가지로 레트라 파라과이 사역팀 또한 사역자들의 사례비, 차량 연료, 인쇄, 컴퓨터, 여행 경비 및 수천 권의 양장본 성경 인쇄 비용등을 어떻게 충당하는 가에 대한 어려움을 겪고 있습니다. 번역 프로젝트 비용을 충당하기 위해 레트라 파라과이는 “성경 한구절 기부하기“ 프로그램을 만들어 사람들이 프로그램에 함께 참여하도록 초대합니다. 성경 한 구절을 번역하는 데 미화로 8불 정도가 필요하며 이 프로그램에 참여하고 한 구절 이상 번역에 참여한 이들는 묵상집에서부터 현지 선교사들의 간증에 이르기까지 다양한 콘텐츠을 출판하고 있는 레트라 출판사로 부터 PDF 형식의 책을 받게 됩니다. 파라과이 및 전 세계의 여러 다른 지역들의 모어로 성경 전체가 번역될 때까지 많은 이들이 이 프로그램에 참여해 성경 구절 번역과 인쇄를 위한 헌금을 기부하는 관대함을 함께 나누게 되도록 기도해 주세요. 

Bible lands study tour, a unique learning experience: Global
Thank God that the Wycliffe Study Tour of Israel organized by Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia in January was a great learning experience for all 22 people in the group. Telling relevant Bible stories at the sites where they happened was a valuable experience for all. Seeing biblical sites in person also will equip future consultants to help produce translations that are more accurate and meaningful. Thank God that the visas for the nine trainee translation consultants from India, Kenya and Tanzania were approved just two to three days before the study tour started. They benefited from the tour in many ways that will help them to make the Bible come alive for the communities and translation teams they serve. 

성지 탐방 투어, 특별한 학습 경험: 전세계

지난 1 월 위클리프 호주 성경번역선교회가 주관한 위클리프 이스라엘 탐방 투어를 통해 22 명의 참가자들 모두가 훌륭한 배움의 경험을 갖게 하신 하나님께 감사드립니다. 성경 속의 일들이 일어났던 곳에서 직접 이야기를 듣는 것은 모두에게 소중한 경험이었습니다. 또한 성경의 현장을 직접 보는 것은 번역 자문위원 연수생들이 보다 정확하고 의미 있는 번역을 할 수 있도록 도와줍니다. 인도, 케냐, 탄자니아에서 온 9명의 번역 자문위원 연수생들의 비자가 탐방 투어 시작 바로 2~3일 전에 승인된 것을 인하여 하나님께 감사드립니다. 이 여행은 참가자들이 자신들이 섬기는 공동체와 번역팀에서 성경 번역을 더욱 더 생생하게 할 수 있도록 여러 면에서 도움을 얻게 된 귀한 학습 경험이었습니다.

Join us in offering prayers of gratitude for 75 years of God’s blessing and provision, for the many men and women he has led to JAARS and worked through for his glory, and for the strong partnerships JAARS has with many other organizations in this sacred mission. 

지난 75년 동안 하나님의 축복과 공급하심에 감사하는 기도를 드리며, 잘스로 인도하시고 하나님의 영광을 위해 일하신 많은 분들, 그리고 이 거룩한 사명을 위해 다른 많은 사역 단체들과 맺은 강력한 파트너십에 대해 함께 기도해 주세요.

Pray for medical staff serving overseas, sometimes in difficult places where medical assistance is not available. Pray for wisdom in diagnosing symptoms and when to seek outside help. 

해외에서, 때로는 의료 지원을 받을 수 없는 어려운 곳에서 사역하는 의료사역팀을 위해 기도해 주세오. 증상을 진단하고 외부의 도움을 구해야 할 때 바른 판단할 수 있는 지혜를 주시도록 기도해 주세요.

Let us remember: “There are different ways of serving, but it is the same Lord being served” (1 Cor. 12:4-5). 

기억하십시다: "은사는 여러 가지나 성령은 같고 직분은 여러 가지나 주는 같으며" (고린도전서 12:5).
