Gyoojun and Jinsook Lee: Director of the Diaspora Engagement team

We are thankful to God that the Kairos course in GTA is going well by His grace. Please pray that Jinsook will serve well both facilitators and participants, and share the rich stories of Bible translation through the course. Pray for good health and leadership for Gyoojun, as he visits the Dominican Republic with the short-term team to serve Haitian refugees there, from May 26-June. Pray also for the team's unity and preparation with fervent prayer, so that they can win over the possible spiritual encounters there with the power of the Holy Spirit.

은혜 중에 토론토지역 카이로스 코스가 잘 진행되고 있음에 감사드립니다! 책임조력자로 섬기는 한 선교사에게 계속해서 조력자들과 참가자들을 잘 섬기며, 성경번역 선교의 비전과 이야기가 풍성하게 잘 나눠지도록 기도해 주세요. 이 선교사는 파송교회인 토론토참소망교회(손명수 담임목사)의 단기 선교팀을 인솔하여 도미니카 공화국에서 아이티 난민을 섬기는 사역을 위해 다녀오게 됩니다 (5월 26일부터-6월2일까지). 건강하게 모든 일들 잘 감당하고 팀원 모두 하나되고 기도로 무장하여 성령의 능력으로 영적 공격을 넉넉히 이겨내도록 기도해 주세요.

Donations beyond Bible translation: Ghana
For some time, Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT) has been at the forefront of significant changes in the country. Not only is GILLBT actively involved in Bible translation in Ghanaian languages, but GILLBT also assists local communities in planning language development activities, including mother-tongue literacy programs. Thank God that the long-term impact of this triple heritage continues to influence the infrastructure that will shape the future of Ghana. In the East Gonja district of the Savannah region, GILLBT staff visiting the Hanga and Vagla translation projects noticed that three newly-built primary schools lacked desks.Students had to sit on the floor, which made teaching and learning difficult. Praise God that with generous support from partners, GILLBT was able to donate 40 dual desks in July 2021 to those three schools. Pray that God will transform the lives of those students as well as others in the community, through education and translated Scriptures. 

성경 번역을 넘어선 기부: 가나

한동안 가나 언어학, 문해와 성경번역 연구소는 가나의 주요 변화들을 주도해 왔습니다. 이들은 가나 부족어 성경 번역에 적극적으로 참여할 뿐 아니라 모국어 문해 프로그램을 포함한 언어 개발 활동을 계획하는 지역 사회를 돕고 있습니다. 이 세 가지 유산의 장기적인 영향으로 가나의 미래를 형성할 사회 기반 시설들 또한 지속적으로 영향을 미치게 됨을 인해 하나님께 감사드립니다. 사역자들이 사바나 지역의 동부 곤자에서 홍가와 바글라어 번역 프로젝트를 방문하고 새로 생긴 초등학교 3 곳에 책상들이 부족하다는 사실을 알게 되었습니다. 학생들이 바닥에 앉아야 했기 때문에 가르치고 배우는 것이 쉽지 않았습니다. 동역자들의 아낌없는 지원으로 2021년 7월에 이 세 학교에 40개의 책상을 기부할 수 있었음을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 하나님께서 교육과 번역된 성경을 통해 학생들뿐 아니라 지역 사회의 다른 사람들의 삶 까지도 함께 변화시켜 주시기를 기도해 주세요. 

Sharing and learning Rev79: Papua New Guinea
On 27 and 28 February, the project team from Papua New Guinea Bible Translation Association (PNGBTA) partnered with SIL to conduct a successful training on Rev79, a project management software tool. The two-day workshop for language program leaders in the Papuan Mainland Region was facilitated by personnel from SIL. Rev79 is a language program database system initially developed and used in India. It facilitates language project planning, implementation and tracking of goals either within an organization or across a collaborative network. PNGBTA has customized the system for their local situation and use. Praise God for the development of this database system to assist in program management. Pray that the system will help leaders to more effectively manage the language programs they lead.

지난 2월말, 파푸아뉴기니성경번역협회의 프로젝트 팀은 SIL과 협력하여 프로젝트 관리 소프트웨어 도구인 Rev79에 대한 교육을 성공적으로 마쳤습니다. 파푸아 본토 지역의 언어 프로그램 지도자들을 위한 2일간의 워크숍이 SIL 사역자들을 통해 진행되었습니다. Rev79는 인도에서 처음 개발되어 사용된 언어 프로그램용 데이터 베이스 시스템으로 단체에서나 협업 네트워크를 통해 언어 프로젝트 계획, 시행 및 목표 추적을 용이하게 합니다. 협회가 이 프로그램을 현지 상황과 용도에 맞게 맞춤화했습니다. 프로그램 관리를 돕기 위한 이 데이터 베이스 시스템의 개발을 인해 하나님을 찬양합니다. 이 시스템이 언어 프로그램들을 보다 효과적으로 관리하는 데 도움이 되도록 기도해 주세요.

Praise God for a video recently completed by VM Productions, an SIL team based at JAARS: Mandara Joseph portion of Genesis (Papua New Guinea). Pray that God will use it to change lives for his glory.

Teams in South Asia are translating the Bible into many local languages. IT equipment, support, and reliable internet are essential for their work. Pray for funding so that the work can continue. 

남아시아의 팀들은 다양한 현지어로 성경을 번역하고 있습니다. 이들의 사역을 위해서는 IT 장비와 지원, 안정적인 인터넷이 필수적입니다. 이 사역이 계속될 수 있도록 필요한 재정을 위해 기도해 주세요. 

Pray for last-minute details for the June 3-16 Refuge-139 trip to Mexico for the missionaries, the kids, and volunteers making the trip.
