Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea

As we shared in our urgent prayer request last week, the Kaninuwa people in the Sibesibe village on Good Enough Island were severely hit by a cyclone-like wind at the end of March. Houses were destroyed and the crops in their gardens were also destroyed. The people now have nothing to eat and nowhere to live. It will take another six months to harvest food from their gardens again and they desperately need food to feed their families. The Parks bought one ton of rice and sent it to them and they are planning to travel there on April 25 by boat, which will take 16 hours. Please pray that the needs of the Kaninuwa people will be met and that they will persevere through this disaster by the power of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.

박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 카니누와 부족 성경번역, 파푸아뉴기니

지난주 긴급 기도제목에서 말씀 드린 것처럼 지난 3월 말에 박 선교사 부부가 섬기는 카니누와 부족의 시베시베 마을이 있는 굿이넙 섬에 태풍 급의 큰 폭풍이 지나가 집들이 다 훼손되고 밭의 식용 작물들이 다 망가져 섬 전체가 극심한 고통을 겪고 있습니다. 다시 작물을 심어 거두기까지는 최소한 6개월이 걸린다고 합니다. 박 선교사 부부는 일단 마을로 짐과 함께 1000kg의 쌀을 보내고 오는 25일 16시간의 뱃길로 마을에 들어갈 예정입니다. 적절한 도움이 잘 전해지고 조속한 복구가 일어나며 계속해서 말씀과 성령으로 넉넉히 이기고 든든히 세워져 가는 공동체가 되도록 손모아주세요!

Cree Initiative: Oji-Cree, Matthew & Caitlin Windsor (Hazel, Elijah) 

We are thankful for the fellowship time the Windsor family had with the Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church (TKPC, Rev. Myung-Soo Son, senior pastor) as they visited TKPC on Easter Sunday. TKPC has supported the Cree Initiative since they commemorated their 50thanniversary by hand-writing the Bible in Korean and English in 2017. With this Bible writing, the church collected $8,000 to give to the Cree Initiative and started supporting the Windsors after that event. The Windsors greeted both the Korean-speaking congregation and English-speaking congregation, sharing how important it is for the Oji-Cree people to communicate God’s love in their heart language not only for the restoration of this First Nation people but also for the future of coming generations. Please pray that more vigorous partnering with TKPC will happen as a result of their personal visit and good fellowship. 

크리 성경 번역 운동: 오지 크리, 매튜/케이틀린 윈저 선교사 (헤이즐, 일라이자)

지난 부활 주일에 윈저 선교사 가족이 토론토한인장로교회(TKPC, 손명수 담임목사)를 방문하여 교제했습니다. TKPC는 지난 2017년 교회 창립 50주년 기념 행사의 일환으로 성경필사를 통해 $8000을 모금하여 크리 원주민 성경번역 운동을 지원했고, 이후에 오지-크리어를 담당하게 되는 윈저 선교사의 사역을 지원하기 시작했습니다. 윈저 선교사가족은 한어권과 영어권 회중 모두에게 인사를 드리며, 오지-크리 원주민의 회복 뿐만 아니라 그 자녀들의 영광스런 미래를 위하여 그분들의 마음의 언어로 하나님의 사랑을 나누는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 나눴습니다. 이번 방문과 교제를 통해 TKPC와 오지-크리 성경번역을 돕는 윈저 선교사 가족과의 더 활발한 동역이 일어나도록 기도해주세요.

Quechua Old Testament Cluster project: Peru

Praise God for pro­vid­ing all the funds nec­es­sary for pub­lish­ing the six Bibles* in the Quechua Clus­ter project in Peru. The first three Bibles are in the print­ing process in Ko­rea. Pray for AWI** as the mem­bers of the or­ga­ni­za­tion plan to cel­e­brate the Huay­las Bible on Au­gust 10. Pray for JAWCA** and the churches of the Huánuco area. They need to choose dates for var­i­ous Bible cel­e­bra­tions and co­or­di­nate the de­tailed plans for the events. Pray that Quechua peo­ple from all six lan­guages will re­ceive His Word with joy and understanding. *Mar­gos, Hua­malies, Huay­las, North Conchucos, South Conchucos, and Hua­cay­bamba are the lan­guages in­volved in the Quechua Clus­ter Project. **AWI – Quechua part­ner or­ga­ni­za­tion in Huaraz; JAWCA – Quechua part­ner or­ga­ni­za­tion in Huánuco

More than translation: Mexico

Praise God for the work of the Bible trans­la­tion team in the Amuzgo lan­guage from Huix­te­pec, Guer­rero in Mex­ico. In Jan­u­ary, team mem­bers led a lit­er­acy work­shop in which 33 chil­dren learned to read and write in their lan­guage.  In March, the same group con­ducted a con­fer­ence, en­ti­tled, “The Word.” It em­pha­sized to church lead­ers and pas­tors the im­por­tance of hav­ing and us­ing the Bible in their lan­guage. Pray for this team as they trans­late the Bible and lead courses and con­fer­ences to make the trans­lated Word rel­e­vant to the community.

멕시코 쿠에레로의 후익스테펙 출신 아뮤즈고 부족어 성경 번역팀을 인해 하나님을 찬양합니다. 지난 1월 이 팀이 문해반을 열어 33 명의 어린이가 모국어로 읽고 쓰는 법을 배우게 되었습니다. 3월에는 “말씀”이라는 대회를 열어 모국어 성경을 사용하는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 교계 지도자들에게 인식시켰습니다. 이 팀이 번역을 해나가면서 각종 훈련, 대회 등을 인도할 때 지역 사회가 말씀의 영향을 받게 되도록 기도해주세요.

Evan Smith has received the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Master Pilot Award, celebrating 50 years of safe flying. JAARS now has three FAA Master Pilots: Gerry Gardner, Doug Deming, and Evan Smith. Praise God for their perseverance in ministry.

에반 선교사가 50년 안전 비행을 기념하여 FAA (미국연방항공국)로 부터 마스터 기장상을 수상하였습니다. 이로서 

이 상을 수상한 기장들은 제리, 더그 그리고 에반 선교사까지 3명입니다. 이 분들의 인내의 섬김을 인하여서 하나님을 찬양합니다.
 

Praise the Lord! To date, a regional recording studio in Asia—designed, built, and equipped by JAARS—has impacted 23 language communities through audio recordings and video products.

여호와를 찬양합니다! 현재까지 아시아 지역 스튜디오에서 잘스가 설계하여 짓고 소요 장비들을 마련하여 오디오 녹음들과 비디오 동영상 제작들을 통하여 23개 언어 부족 공동체에 영향을 미쳤습니다.
