Th*의 간증입니다: "문해 프로그램 기획 강의에서 교수님은 종종 흥미로운 활동들을 많이 주셨어요. 그중 가장 인상 깊었던 건 우리 모국어로 시나 노래를 만드는 거였죠. 저는 북부 태국 라나어로 노래를 쓰기로 결정하고 페이스북 페이지에 올렸어요. 게시하기 전에는 사람들이 비웃거나 부정적으로 반응할까 봐 매우 걱정했어요. 그런데 놀랍게도 대부분의 북부 태국 친구들이 제가 사용한 전통 라나 문자를 읽을 수 있었어요. 그들은 가사를 이해했을 뿐만 아니라, 그 노래가 우리 문화에서 익숙한 장르임을 즉시 알아보더군요. 많은 분들이 따뜻한 댓글과 격려를 남겨주셨습니다. 이전에는 사람들이 전통 라나 문자를 이렇게 잘 존중하고 읽을 수 있을 거라고는 생각하지 못했습니다. 이 경험을 통해 앞으로 우리 지역사회에서 전통 라나 문자를 가르치고 전파하는 일이 충분히 가능하고 의미 있을 거라고 저는 믿게 되었습니다.”

- 어려운 강의 내용을 잘 이해하고, 배움의 과정을 제가 즐길 수 있도록.

- 무엇보다도, 여러가지를 동시에 감당해야하는 힘든 감정과 스트레스를 잘 관리할 힘을 달라고, 하나님께서 저를 보호하시고 번아웃으로부터 지켜주시길 기도해 주세요.

- 제가 겪는 스트레스와 압박이 남편에게도 영향을 미칠 수밖에 없지만, 우리 부부의 관계가 계속해서 사랑스런 관계로 유지되도록 기도해 주세요.

- 제 건강 상태를 위해 기도해 주세요. 잠을 제대로 자지 못하고 있습니다. 몸에 무리가 가고 공부에 지장을 주고 있습니다. 의사가 제게 맞는 치료법을 찾아 이 상태를 잘 진료해 주시도록 기도해 주세요.

- 제가 감당하는 이 어려운 과정의 공부를 잘 할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Payap University MA Program: Bible translation in a sensitive area of Asia 

The mission of Payap University's linguistics department is to train skilled linguists and promote research on languages, with a particular focus on Southeast Asian languages. Wycliffe Canada actively supports this mission by providing personnel, funding, and scholarships to Southeast Asian students. This month, we will focus our prayers on Th*, De*, and Ta*’s personal testimonies. Please pray for these students, who are equipped as essential Bible translation and literacy experts, to bring God’s Word to the hundreds of language groups in need. This program has the potential to make an eternal impact in Southeast Asia.

Th* shares: "In the Literacy Program Planning class, our teacher often gave us many interesting activities to practice. The one that impressed me the most was creating a poem or a song in our own mother tongue. I decided to write a song in Northern Thai Lanna, and I posted it on my Facebook page. Before posting, I was very worried, afraid that people might laugh at me or react negatively. But to my surprise, most of my Northern Thai friends could read the traditional Lanna script I used. They not only understood the lyrics but also immediately recognised the song as a familiar genre in our culture. Many of them left kind comments and encouragement. Before this, I never thought people would respect and be able to read the traditional Lanna script so well. This experience made me believe that, in the future, teaching and spreading the traditional Lanna script in my community will be very possible and meaningful.”

Prayer items from Th*:  Pray for me to have wisdom and perseverance to continue studying hard in the remaining [school year], so that I can achieve good results. Pray for me to choose an Independent Study topic that fits my abilities and strengths.

- Most importantly, pray for the strength to manage overwhelming emotions and stress. May God protect and shield me from burnout. 

- That my relationship with my husband stays sweet and loving, even though the stress and pressure I face inevitably affect him as well.

- Please pray for my health condition, which has caused me to get less sleep. It takes a toll on my body and affects my studies. Please pray that the doctor will find the right treatment for me and cure me of this condition.
