지난 1월, AIDIA 디렉터 루이스 세르반테스 가족이 페루 정글 남부 파스타사 케추아 지역의 알리안사 크리스티아나 공동체를 방문하여 지도자와 교사들을 훈련했습니다. 여섯 공동체에서 온 주일학교 교사 10명이 훈련을 받았고, 약 80명의 어린이들에게 예수님의 생애와 비유를 중심으로 신약성경 이야기를 가르쳤습니다. 함께 섬길 자원봉사자들을 보내주신 하나님께 감사드립니다.

남부 파스타사 케추아어 성경 번역도 계속 진전되고 있습니다. 마태복음부터 고린도후서까지 초벌 번역과 팀·현지인 검토가 진행되었으며, 마가복음은 마을 검토와 팀 검토를 마치고 현재 역번역을 진행 중입니다. 번역의 모든 과정이 순조롭게 진행되어 공동체에 하나님의 말씀이 온전히 전해지도록, 또한 지도자와 교사들, 어린이들이 계속 믿음 안에서 견고해지도록 기도해 주세요.

AIDIA의 디렉터인 루이스 세르반테스(Luis Cervantes)는 다음과 같이 전했습니다.
“지난 1월, 저희 가족은 페루 정글 남부 파스타사 케추아 지역에 위치한 알리안사 크리스티아나(Alianza Cristiana) 공동체를 방문했습니다. 여러 공동체의 지도자들을 훈련하기 위한 목적이었습니다. 그곳에서 40명이 넘는 지도자들이 훈련을 통해 힘을 얻었고, 교사들과 청년들, 어린이들과도 교제할 수 있었던 매우 복된 시간이었습니다.”
여섯 개의 서로 다른 공동체에서 온 주일학교 교사 10명이 훈련을 받았고, 80명의 어린이들을 대상으로 신약성경 이야기—예수님의 생애와 비유를 주제로 교육이 진행되었습니다. 훈련을 위해, 그리고 어린이들과 함께 사역하기 위해 아방카이(Abancay)에서 기꺼이 와 준 자원봉사자들을 보내주신 하나님께 감사드립니다.
루이스는 여정 중에 있었던 일에 대해서도 이렇게 이야기합니다.
“가는 길에 우리는 몇 가지 어려운 상황을 만났지만, 그 가운데서 하나님의 신실하심을 분명하게 경험했습니다. 목적지로 가던 중 새벽 1시쯤, 아무도 알지 못하는 한 공동체에 도착했습니다. 사방이 어두웠고 우리를 기다리는 사람도 없었으며, 머물 곳도 없었습니다. 그래서 날이 밝을 때까지 강가에서 기다리기로 했습니다.
그 지역에는 모기가 너무 많아서 걱정이 되었습니다. 그런데 이른 새벽 시간 내내 모기가 거의 나타나지 않았고, 우리는 이것을 하나님께서 우리를 돌보고 계신다는 표시로 받아들였습니다.
돌아오는 길도 쉽지 않았습니다. 아침에 로보야쿠(Loboyacu)에 도착하여 산 로렌소(San Lorenzo)로 가는 배를 타려고 했지만, 하루 종일 배가 단 한 척도 지나가지 않았습니다. 시간이 흘러 밤이 되었고, 우리는 머물 곳도 없었으며 아는 사람도 아무도 없었습니다.
그때 한 여성이 우리에게 다가와 친절하게 자신의 집에서 묵어도 된다고 말했습니다. 얼마 후에 한 남자가 돌아와 우리가 쉴 수 있도록 텐트와 매트리스를 가져다주었습니다. 이 분 또한 전혀 모르는 분이었습니다. 그렇게 하나님께서는 우리가 그날 밤 안전하게 머물 수 있는 장소를 꼭 필요한 순간에 마련해 주셨습니다.
지치고 앞이 보이지 않는 상황에서도 하나님께서 매 순간 우리와 함께하시며, 우리에게 꼭 필요한 것을 정확히 공급하고 계심을 볼 수 있었습니다. 이번 여행을 통해 우리는 어려움 가운데서도 하나님께서 언제나 함께하시며 우리를 지켜주시고 돌보신다는 사실을 다시 한번 깨닫게 되었습니다.”
또한 남부 파스타사 케추아어 성경 번역의 최근 진전으로 인해 하나님을 찬양합니다. 마태복음부터 고린도후서까지 초벌 번역, 팀 검토, 현지인 검토가 진행되었습니다.
그리고 마가복음이 마을 검토와 팀 검토를 마친 것에 대해서도 하나님께 감사드립니다. 현재 팀은 마가복음의 역번역(back translation)을 절반 정도 완료했습니다. 역번역은 지역 공동체를 위한 초안의 인쇄와 전문 번역 자문위원의 검토를 계획하기 전에 거쳐야 하는 마지막 단계입니다.
하나님께서 남부 파스타사 케추아 공동체의 지도자들과 교사들, 어린이들을 계속해서 강하게 하시고, 성경 번역의 모든 과정 가운데 신실하게 인도해 주시기를 기도합니다.
Luis Cervantes, Director of AIDIA, shares: “In January, we traveled as a family to the community of Alianza Cristiana [located in the Southern Pastaza Quechua area of the] Peruvian jungle, with the aim of training leaders from various communities. It was a time of great blessing, during which more than 40 leaders were strengthened, and we also had the opportunity to fellowship with teachers, youth, and children.”
Ten Sunday school teachers were trained from six different communities and teaching sessions were held for 80 children focusing on New Testament Stories: The Life of Jesus and His Parables. Praise God for the volunteers from the city of Abancay who came to provide the training and to work with the children.
Luis says, “During the journey, we faced some difficult moments in which we clearly witnessed God’s faithfulness. On the way there, we arrived around 1:00 a.m. at a community where we knew no one. Everything was dark; there was no one waiting for us, nor was there a place for us to stay. Faced with this situation, we decided to wait on the riverbank until dawn. We were concerned about mosquitoes—as they tend to be abundant in that area—but throughout the early morning hours, there were almost none, and we recognized this as a sign of God’s care.
On the return journey, the situation was also complicated. We arrived in Loboyacu in the morning with the intention of catching a boat to San Lorenzo, but not a single one passed by all day. Hours went by, and as night fell, we had nowhere to stay and knew no one. At that moment, a woman approached us and kindly offered to let us stay in her home. Later, a man— whom we also did not know—returned with tents and mattresses so that we could rest. Thus, God provided a safe place to spend the night, just in time. Despite the exhaustion and uncertainty, we were able to see how God was with us at every moment, watching over us and providing exactly what we needed. This journey reminded us that He is always present, even in the midst of difficulties.”
Praise God for the recent translation progress in Southern Pastaza Quechua - for the first draft, team check and local speaker check of Matthew through to 2 Corinthians.
And praise God that the gospel of Mark has been village checked and team checked. The team is half way through the back translation of Mark and this is the last step before they can schedule a consultant check and printing of drafts for the community.
