Indigenous Initiatives: ᐊᓂᐦᔑᓂᓃᒧᐏᐣ – Anishininiimowin (Oji-Cree)
Matt Windsor shares about training church leaders:
"The church in Kingfisher Lake hosts regular training schools for Indigenous church leaders from across the region. Many of them lead churches in small communities… and their roles are demanding… they are used to leaning heavily on God for endurance.
Our supervisor, Dan Grove, came up to teach on the Beatitudes and on engaging in spiritual battle… Other sessions taught by an Anglican priest focused on close readings of lament psalms. People shared their burdens, and Dan’s sessions gave them an opportunity to offer them up to God.
There was a sense [among] the leadership that this wasn’t just another training school to come and go, but something with the potential to start real change… [some] community members [were able] to sit in on classes as well.
Some participants shared afterward how difficult it was to stay through the whole session and to forgive, given the things they have gone through, but that they were so glad they did."
Please pray:
- For Silas and Susan’s physical health, mental stamina, and wisdom as they translate Leviticus and beyond.
- For Marianne, the language and culture officer at the Naskapi Development Corporation (NDC). Bible translation is just one of her tasks. Pray that she continues to grow into this task and vision.
- For Ruby, a retired NDC administrator, as she grows in her capacity and vision as she serves on the translation team.
- For Noah, the current NDC administrator—not actively involved in Bible translation but playing a key leadership and decision-making role.
- For Tshiueten, a former employee and team member, who recently asked to become involved in Bible translation again—he would be motivated by a desire to know God better through the Word of God in his language.
