Eighth English Tutoring Program for Global Bible Translator (GBT, Wycliffe Korea)
The 8th session of the 10-week tutoring program to improve the English proficiency of staff from GBT, which began last August, was successfully completed by the end of October, by God's grace. We are thankful that the Korean participants' English skills improved, that senior and junior workers shared life, and that they could share the grace of God at work within their own cultures and the cultures of their ministry contexts, even amidst busy schedules and life's challenges.
It is a privilege to serve this program alongside many volunteers from Wycliffe Canada, including both active and retired missionaries who generously donate their time. To accomplish this, we coordinate schedules internally and work together with the volunteer and retired support departments on mobilization efforts. Please pray that we may always handle these responsibilities well, relying on the wisdom and strength God provides.
Strengthening collaboration with other Wycliffe organizations*
Last November, the Calgary Prayer Team had the precious opportunity to strengthen various ministry collaborations when Hyunsub Choi, the Church Mobilization Team Leader for GBT, visited Canada. He visited Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and other locations, fellowshipping with Wycliffe Canada and CanIL workers.
We are especially grateful for the excellent hospitality provided by our Calgary Prayer Team. This visit proved beneficial for fostering exchanges, including attracting more GBT Korean missionaries and students to CanIL (Canada Institute of Linguistics), providing ongoing English training opportunities through the tutoring program, and sharing church engagement ministries between the two countries.
In January, Senior Vice President John Chu will visit GBT to discuss concrete cooperation plans, including mutual exchange and collaboration for mobilization, personnel exchange for the next generation, and joint support for Bible translation projects. We are grateful that the Korean Diaspora Team, partner churches, and prayer teams have contributed to this entire process. Please continue to pray that we may meaningfully contribute to the necessary tasks ahead.
New Korean Volunteer is on board
Wycliffe Canada has a volunteer program. While there is no set stipend, we help volunteers raise the necessary funds for their ministry through supporting churches or individual donors, enabling them to carry out the same work as missionaries.
Recently, one member of a missionary family serving in a sensitive area decided to commit alongside the Korean Diaspora Cooperation Team and was accepted as a volunteer. We are grateful that this partnership is leading to even more fruitful ministry.
While the official role is Communication Coordinator, this position involves multiple responsibilities, including translating various materials, mobilizing prayer, and supporting the diverse ministries of the Korean Diaspora Team. Please pray for strengthened teamwork in this remote assignment and for increasingly fruitful work..

Resuming teamwork for publication
One of Daniel’s primary ministries is serving as manager to assemble and lead the editorial team for publishing various Wycliffe publications into Korean format. We are grateful that through coordinating the publication of the ‘Advent Devotional’ and the quarterly ‘In Other Words,’ we have been able to strengthen our teamwork anew!
Advent Devotional Booklet English-Korean Edition
This is a Korean translation and adaptation of the English edition of the ‘Advent Devotional’ produced by the Wycliffe Canada. It is a valuable resource designed to help us reflect on and apply to our lives, week by week, the meaning of the Lord's coming through daily meditation on a verse of Scripture, organized around the four themes of ‘Hope / Peace / Joy / Love’.
In Other Words
A draft of the Korean translation for Wycliffe Canada’s quarterly publication, “In Other Words” has been completed, and it is scheduled to be shared by year-end following review and design work. Please pray for the final touches to be completed well.
Weekly Prayer Bulletin Production and Distribution
The most strategic ministry in missions is prayer ministry. It is also the most essential and indispensable regular ministry I oversee. This prayer bulletin, created in collaboration with my team members, is sent out weekly to hundreds of recipients in both Korean and English.
I warmly thank all the volunteers who consistently contribute to the creation of weekly prayer items through teamwork, and thank the IT volunteers who make it possible for all of this to be shared generously online!
Through our prayer ministry, we believe that as our God answers spiritual battles on the front lines of ministry, significant progress will be achieved in the Bible translation movement. Simultaneously, we believe that all individuals, prayer teams, and churches collaborating in prayer will witness the Lord's work, deepen their faith, and deepen their commitment. Please pray that all team members will continue to press forward, and that God will grant them a wellspring of strength and passion!
