We had a wrap-up session for the last 10 weeks of English tutoring sessions for GBT staff. It has been already 4 years since we launched this collaboration between Global Bible Translators and Wyliffe Canada.

Please find a sharing by one of the GBT staff at the closing session to see how this program benefits both students and tutors, as all tutors truly appreciated their fellowship and mutual learning with students.

Learning with Joy, Growing in Faith
Hello, everyone. My name is Hyunsub Choi, and I am very happy to share my story at today’s graduation.
First of all, I want to say a big thank you to all the native teachers and staff from Wycliffe Canada. Thank you for giving your precious time every week for us, the GBT members. The one-on-one and one-on-two classes were really wonderful.
For me, this semester was a great gift. I was so lucky to study the book Translating the Word with teacher Doug Trick. I have no experience in Bible translation, but I really wanted to learn about it. So, learning from Doug felt like studying with the best expert. He has a lot of experience in the Philippines and also teaches at CanIL. Doug answered all of my questions with great detail, warmth, and deep knowledge.
Every week, I read a chapter, organized my thoughts, and brought my questions to class. This process helped me grow a lot. Our class time was always full of joy because Doug helped me understand the book much deeper. Doug, thank you so much for pouring all your energy and passion into our one hour together every week.
Actually, I am in Hong Kong right now for a business trip. In just two hours, I am going to visit the Wycliffe Hong Kong office to give a presentation. Thanks to the skills and confidence I got from Wycliffe Canada, I am ready to go there and show them my best English!
Once again, thank you to all the staff who helped us. I pray that God’s blessings will always be with your ministries and your lives. Thank you so much.
