소피 구오 선교사 파송: 성경번역, 나이지리아
지난 7월 19일(주일)에 소피 구오 선교사 파송식이 리치몬드 힐 만다린 얼라이언스 처치에서 열렸습니다. 본토 중국인 디아스포라가 본토 중국인교회와의 협력으로 처음 파송되는 것이어서 더욱 의미 있었습니다. 이규준 선교사가 위클리프를 대표해 축하와 감사장 수여 및 파송 기도를 할 수 있어서 감사했습니다.
나이지리아에는 아직도 성경 번역이 필요한 언어가 50개가 넘는데, 소피 선교사는 그 중에 수십 개 언어로 마가복음을 함께 번역하는 프로젝트에 투입되어 사역할 예정입니다.
- 소피 선교사는 7월 28일 출국하는데, 안전한 여행과 현지에서의 적응 및 열매맺는 사역을 위해 기도해 주세요.
- 또한 이번 파송을 계기로 위클리프와 만다린 사용 중국인 교회와의 협력 증진을 위해서도 함께 기도해 주세요.

Commissioning of Sophy Guo: BT, Nigeria
On Sunday, July 19, Sophy Guo's commissioning ceremony was held at the Richmond Hill Mandarin Alliance Church. The service was particularly meaningful, as it marked the first time a Mandarin-speaking Wycliffe member from mainland China was commissioned through a partnership with a Mandarin-speaking Chinese Church in Canada. We were truly grateful that Gyoojun, representing Wycliffe, was able to offer congratulations, present a certificate of appreciation to the church, and lead the commissioning prayer.
There are still more than 50 languages in Nigeria that require Bible translation, and Sophy is scheduled to serve on a project translating the Gospel of Mark into dozens of those languages.
- Sophy is leaving on July 28. Please pray for her safe journey, her adjustment to life there, and a fruitful ministry.
- Please also pray that this sending will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between Wycliffe and Mandarin-speaking Chinese churches.

동부 라와* 프로젝트: 성경 번역, 동남아시아 보안 지역 (배포하거나 온라인에 게시하지 말아 주세요)
이 지역에 거주하며 동부 라와 번역팀을 섬기고 있는 한국성경번역 선교회 김동인/현진 선교사 부부는 토요일과 일요일 아침, 두 마을에서 어린이 전도 모임을 운영하고 있습니다. 12명에서 30명의 아이들이 성경 이야기를 듣고 찬송가를 배우기 위해 모이고 있습니다. 최근 보르상게 마을에 어린이 전도를 위해 특별히 지어진 새 건물이 완공된 것을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 이 지역 아이들에게 예수님의 복음을 전할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요.
야고보서가 99% 완성되어 컨설턴트에게 전달되었음을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 7월 한 달 동안, 프로젝트 코디네이터인 그렉 선교사가 번역팀과 함께 워크숍에 참석할 계획이며, 이 워크숍에서 야고보서에 대한 자문위원 컨설턴트 검토를 받을 예정입니다. 팀의 이동과 여행에 필요한 준비 및 행정적 모든 절차가 순조롭게 이루어지도록 기도해 주세요.
지역 학교에서 문해 교육 활동이 다시 시작될 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오. 학교 측에서는 올해 동부 라와어 문해 교실을 위해 문해사역 팀을 다시 초대하지 않았습니다. 팀은 작년에 활동했던 두 곳의 대형 학교로 다시 들어가거나, 새로운 학교에서 사역을 재개하기를 원하고 있습니다. 학교 사역뿐만 아니라 성인 문해 교육 계획이 추진될 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

Eastern Lawa* Project: Bible translation in a sensitive area of Asia (do not forward or post this online)
Dongin and Jin (a Korean couple of Global Bible Translators who live in the area and serve on the Eastern Lawa translation team) run two Children’s outreaches on Saturday and Sunday mornings in two villages. Between 12 and 30 children are attending to hear Bible stories and learn Christian songs. Praise God for the recent completion of a new building in BorSangae village, specifically for outreach to children. Pray that they will reach the children there with the message of Jesus.
Praise God that the book of James is 99% finished and has been sent to the consultant. In July, Greg Blok, the project facilitator, plans to accompany the translation team to a workshop where they will receive a consultant check for the book of James. Please pray for the team’s travel, logistics, and preparation for the trip.
Please pray for the resumption of literacy work in local schools. The schools have not invited the team back this year for additional Lawa reading and writing sessions. The team would like to either return to the two large schools they worked with last year or work with new schools. Pray for progress on the adult literacy initiative and the school ministry.

루마니아의 로마 공동체에서는 표준 로마니어로 번역된 성경을 보급하기 위해, 그들의 문화와 삶의 방식에 맞춘 다양한 사역을 진행하고 있습니다. 이 사역은 무엇보다 사람들과의 관계를 맺고, 직접 만나 교제하며, 말씀을 함께 경험하는 데 중점을 두고 있습니다. 또한 로마 공동체는 구전 문화가 발달해 있어, 번역된 성경을 글로 읽는 것보다 오디오 성경으로 듣는 방식이 더욱 효과적인 경우가 많습니다. 위클리프 루마니아는 지난 몇 달 동안 성경 번역 사역을 알리고, 마가복음, 요한복음, 사도행전의 번역본을 보급하기 위해 전국 각지의 로마 학교와 여러 교회를 방문했습니다. 로마 공동체가 번역된 하나님의 말씀을 기쁜 마음으로 받아들이고, 성경책을 적극적으로 받아가며, 웹사이트에서 제공되는 오디오 성경을 기대와 기쁨으로 듣고 있는 것을 인하여 하나님께 감사드립니다. 이 말씀을 통해 더 많은 로마 사람들이 예수 그리스도를 만나고 믿음 안에서 성장하도록 함께 기도해 주세요.

Roma people increasingly interested in God’s Word: Romania
In Roma communities, promoting the Scriptures translated into Standard Romani involves activities tailored to the community’s culture and way of life. The focus is on building relationships, personal interaction and experiences. Since these communities often have an oral culture, the audio format of translated Scriptures can be more effective than the written form. Wycliffe Romania reports that over the last few months, to raise awareness of the Bible translation work and distribute the translated Scriptures—specifically the Gospels of Mark and John and the book of Acts—the team visited a Roma school and several churches across the country. Praise God that the Roma community was receptive, eager to receive copies of the translation and excited to listen to the audio recordings available on the website.

For more vigorous prayer for the Bible translation movement: Wycliffe Global Alliance
Over the past six and a half years, Wycliffe Global Alliance has been sharing prayer requests from the alliance member organizations in their current format. To allow for staff recruitment and the development of a better format, WGA's Streams of Prayer will be in hold for the time being. Please pray for Phil Prior and his team of the Communications Department, asking God to grant them wisdom so they can produce positive results that lead to even greater prayer partnership.

Weekly prayer with JAARS
Thank God for protecting our base and aircraft during a recent storm featuring strong winds and hail.
Pray for a JAARS ministry partner serving in the Amazon who is facing mounting spiritual opposition in an unevangelized village downstream from their base.
Pray for a strong finish for the staff and participants of our Intercultural Communications Course (ICC). The course concludes on August 5th.
