Church Engagement Team Planning
Last week, the Church Partnership Team held a ministry planning retreat at our Calgary Head Office. We are grateful that this served as an opportunity to expand the team, establish our ministry philosophy, and build unity. We will continue to need more ministry workers. Please join us in prayer.

제이드 스타* 수화 프로젝트: 아시아 보안 지역 (배포하거나 온라인에 게시하지 말아 주세요)
번역팀의 역량 강화의 한 방편으로 지난 1월에 구약성경 훈련에 참여했습니다. 창세기를 시작으로 구약성경 각권의 내용과 연관성을 이해하는 방법과 다양한 문체에 대하여 배웠고, 아주 유익한 훈련이었습니다. 이 훈련 과정에 청각장애인 공동체에서 4명이 더 참석한 것으로 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 최근의 성과들로는; 사도행전 23-28 장이 완성되어 출판되었습니다. 에스더서 1~6장의 초벌 번역도 마쳤습니다.
• 피스 사역자가 지난 2월에 제왕절개 수술로 아기를 출산했고, 산모와 아기 모두 건강합니다. 하나님의 보호와 인도하심을 인하여 감사드립니다
• 다니엘서 번역이 순조롭게 진행되어 감사드립니다. 번역가, 주석 자문위원, 편집자 및 팀원들 각자의 사역을 잘 감당하여 9월까지 다니엘서를 마칠 수 있도록
• 에스더서 번역 중인데, 팀원들이 이 책을 명확히 이해하고, 단계별 진행에 차질이 없도록 기도해 주세요

Jade Star* Sign Language Project in a sensitive area of Asia (do not forward or post this online)
As part of our efforts to strengthen the translation team’s capabilities, the team participated in an Old Testament training course last January. Starting with Genesis, they learned how to understand the content and interconnections of each book of the Old Testament, as well as the various literary styles, and it was a beneficial training experience. Praise God that there were also four other Deaf community members in attendance at the course. Recent achievements include the completion and publication of Acts chapters 23–28. We have also finished the first draft of the translation of Esther chapters 1–6.
• Praise God that Mrs. Peace gave birth safely by C-section last February; both mother and baby are healthy. We praise God for His grace and guidance.
• We are grateful that the translation of the book of Daniel is progressing smoothly. Please continue to pray for the team - including translators, exegetical advisors, editors and others - to carry out their tasks effectively and be able to finish the chapters of Daniel by September.
• We are currently working on translating the Book of Esther. Please continue to pray that the team members will clearly understand this book and that there will be no setbacks as we move through each stage of the project.

예상을 뛰어넘는 교회의 기도 응답: 칠레
2018년, LETRA 칠레 인근의 한 교회는 성경을 접할 수 없는 한 소수 민족을 위해 기도하기 시작했습니다. 같은 해, 해당 단체 소속의 한 선교사가 중앙아시아 한 부족 가운데서 사역하기로 결심했습니다. 몇 년 후, 그 교회는 LETRA칠레에 연락하여 그들이 기도해 오던 그 부족 그룹에 어떤 진전이 있었는지 물었습니다. 그 선교사가 상황을 가장 잘 알고 있었기 때문에, 교회는 그 선교사에게 직접 문의했고, 모두의 놀라움 속에, 그 선교사는 자신이 사역하고 있는 부족 그룹이 바로 그 교회가 2018년부터 중보기도 해 온 바로 그 소수 민족임을 확인해 주었습니다. 교회는 자신들도 모르는 사이에 하나님께서 수년 동안 그들의 기도에 응답해 오셨다는 사실을 알게 되어 크게 기뻐했습니다. 선교사를 직접 만나 하나님께서 그 여정의 모든 단계를 어떻게 인도해 주셨는지 듣게 되자, 교회의 믿음은 크게 굳건해졌습니다. 이 경험은 우리가 전체적인 상황을 파악하지 못할 때도 하나님이 일하고 계심을 일깨워 주는 계기가 되었습니다.

Church prayers answered beyond expectation:Chile
In 2018, a church near LETRA Chile began praying for a people group without access to the Bible. The same year, a missionary from the organization decided to serve among an ethnic group in Central Asia. Several years later, the church contacted LETRA Chile to ask whether there had been any progress with the people group they had been praying for. Because the missionary was most familiar with the situation, the church consulted her directly. To everyone’s surprise, she confirmed that the people group she was working with was precisely the same group for whom the church had been interceding since 2018. The church was excited to discover that God had been answering their prayers for years, even without their knowing it. Meeting the missionary and hearing how God had guided every step of the way deeply strengthened the church’s faith. This experience has been a powerful reminder that God works even when we cannot see the whole picture.

청각장애인 공동체에서 살아 숨 쉬는 성경: 루마니아
위클리프 루마니아는 성경이 루마니아 수화로 번역된 것을 인하여 주께 감사드립니다. 한 청각장애인 교회의 청각장애인 목사는 예배 중에 이 수화 성경 동영상을 활용하고 있습니다. 이 번역본이 나오기 전에는, 그가 먼저 루마니아어로 된 성경 본문을 보여준 다음, 이를 수화로 전달하고, 마지막으로 그 내용을 바탕으로 설교해야 했습니다. 이 영상들을 사용하기 시작한 이후, 많은 청각장애인 성도가 예배 후 그에게 다가와 성경에 대한 이해가 얼마나 더 명확하고 깊어졌는지 말해주고 있습니다. 루마니아의 다른 많은 청각장애인 목회자는 처음에 자신의 주된 역할이 단순히 예배 중에 성경을 수화로 통역하는 것이라고 믿었습니다. 번역팀은 이제 청각장애인 공동체를 위한 마태복음 수정작업을 마쳤습니다.

Scripture comes alive in the Deaf community: Romania
Wycliffe Romania thanks the Lord for the translation of the Bible into Romanian Sign Language (LSR). A Deaf pastor at a Deaf church uses LSR Scripture videos during services. Before this translation was available, he had to first show the Bible text in Romanian, then convey it in sign language, and finally preach from it. Since he began using these videos, many Deaf members of the congregation have approached him after services to say how much clearer and deeper their understanding of Scripture has become. Many other Deaf pastors in Romania initially believed their primary role was simply to interpret the Bible into sign language during services. The translation team has now completed its review of the Gospel of Matthew for the Deaf community.
• Pray that God grants wisdom and clarity to everyone involved in the Bible translation process
• The team needs one more translator, so pray that God will bring the right person

Thank God for opening doors to additional commercial aviation flights that help offset the cost of missionary flights in PNG.
Summer is a busy season for our Facilities Maintenance and Grounds teams. Pray for their safety as they work throughout the JAARS base.
Thank God for our tour and museum guides, who share JAARS' mission with our many visitors. Pray that visitors will respond by supporting JAARS through prayer, service, or financial giving.
