L and C 선교사: 성경 번역, 아시아 보안 지역
여러분의 기도와 동역에 감사드립니다. 지난 번 기도부탁드렸던 C 선교사의 라오스 지역 단기 사역을 감사하게 잘 마쳤습니다. 서너 시간의 수면만으로 하루 종일 빡빡한 일정을 소화해야 했지만, 의료/문화/복음 전파 사역을 통해 현지인들을 섬기고 복음 안에서 교제할 수 있어서 감사했습니다.
또한 지난 7월 말에 계획되었던 A 국 현지인 성경번역 사역자와 번역팀에 소속된 선교사들 전체의 4박 5일 수련회를 은혜 중에 잘 마쳤습니다. 현지 사정으로 현지인 사역자의 도착 일정이 지연되었지만, 오히려 서로를 위해 기도하고 모임을 더 간절히 사모하는 계기가 되었습니다. 특히 현지 사정을 더욱 잘 알게 되고, 그분의 복음 전파 열정에 도전받고, 또한 성경 번역 사역에 필요한 자료들을 공유할 수 있었던 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다.
현지인 동역자가 건강하고 안전하게 계속해서 열매맺는 사역을 이어가도록, 또한 팀 전체의 풍성한 열매맺는 동역을 위해 계속 기도해 주세요.

L & C: Bible translation, a sensitive area, Asia
Thank you for your prayers and partnership. C has gratefully completed her short-term mission trip to Laos, for which we had previously asked for your prayers. Although she had to manage a packed schedule all day on just three or four hours of sleep, she was grateful to serve the local people and fellowship with them in the Gospel through medical, cultural, and evangelistic ministry.
In addition, we successfully concluded, by God’s grace, the four-night and five-day retreat scheduled for late July for local Bible translation workers in Country A and all missionaries serving on the translation team. Although the local workers’ arrival was delayed due to circumstances, this actually became an opportunity for the team to pray for one another and to long even more earnestly for this gathering. In particular, it was a meaningful time during which we gained a deeper understanding of local conditions, were inspired by the local worker's passion for spreading the Gospel , and were able to share needed resources for the Bible translation ministry.
Please continue to pray that our local partners may continue their fruitful ministry in good health and safety, and for the entire team to work together in a way that bears abundant fruit.

An IT professional who previously participated in JAARS Vision Trip is exploring opportunities to volunteer with JAARS after retirement. We thank God for granting this couple a precious spirit of dedication. Please pray with us that:
• this will be a good opportunity for fellowship and collaboration between JAARS and Wycliffe Canada.
• administrative cooperation between Wycliffe Canada and JAARS on all volunteer applications and placement procedures proceeds smoothly.

위클리프 태국
몽족 출신인 욘은 학사 학위를 취득하고 신학교 과정을 마친 후 교회에서 사역하기 시작했습니다. 위클리프 태국 대표인 왓 선교사의 제안으로 위클리프 태국의 사역 코디네이터로 허입되었습니다. 성경 이야기 구연 (OBS) 사역 훈련을 받은 후, 그는 OBS 사역의 책임자가 되어 동남아시아 보안 지역 전역의 소수 언어 그룹을 대상으로 훈련 세션을 인도합니다. 해당 공동체를 자주 방문해 태국에서 교차 훈련 워크숍을 진행하는 것이 욘의 계획입니다. 다음과 같이 기도해 주세요:
• 태우 사역자가 섬기는 중국계 태국 교회에서 그녀의 사역을 100% 후원하기로 했습니다. 하나님을 찬양합니다!
• 태국 교회 지도자들 가운데 ‘선교지향적 사고방식’이 자리 잡도록 기도해 주세요. 태국 교회는 2028년 8월, 태국 내 복음 전파 200주년을 기념하면서, 그 시점까지 신자 100만 명, 10,000개 교회 개척, 10,000 명의 목회자 배출을 목표로 삼았습니다.
• 위클리프가 젊은이들에게 투자하고, 선교를 위해 훈련시킨 열매를 얻고 있음을 인하여 하나님을 찬송합니다.

Wycliffe Thai Foundation
Yon, from the Hmong community, earned a bachelor's degree and completed seminary training before serving the church. At Director Wat's suggestion, he joined the Wycliffe Thai Foundation as an activity coordinator. After training in Oral Bible Storytelling (OBS), he became an OBS "champion," leading training sessions for minority-language groups across restricted-access SE Asian countries (Oshiwa* and Joy-cluster*). His plan is to travel to the community frequently and run cross-training workshops in Thailand.
• Praise God that Taew's Chinese Thai church will provide her with 100% ministry support!
• Pray for a cross-cultural “mission mindset” among Thai church leaders. In August 2028, the Thai church will celebrate 200 years of the gospel in Thailand. They have set goals of 1,000,000 believers, 10,000 churches, and 10,000 pastors by that date.
• Praise God that Wycliffe Thai Foundation is seeing the fruit of its investment in young people and equipping them for missions.

다양한 성경 번역의 미래: 지역공동체가 주도하는 번역
전 세계 성경 번역은 전통적인 기관 주도의 성경 인쇄·보급 방식에서 벗어나, 다양한 매체를 활용하고 지역 공동체가 주도하는 방식으로 중대한 패러다임의 전환을 맞고 있습니다. 지난 6월 카메룬 야운데에서 열린 위클리프 국제연대 모임에서 아프리카, 유럽, 중남미의 지도자들은 성경 번역의 진정한 성공은 더 이상 인쇄된 책을 얼마나 많이 배포했는가에 있지 않고, 각 공동체가 자신들의 문화에 깊이 뿌리내린 방식으로 말씀을 이해하고 그로 인해 삶이 실제로 변혁되는가에 달려 있다고 의견을 모았습니다. 폴 킴비 박사는 성경 번역의 미래가 ‘대화형 번역’에 있다고 강조했는데, 이는 지역 공동체의 이야기에 귀 기울이고, 적극적으로 소통하며, 각 지역의 상황과 문화에 맞는 의사소통 방식을 활용함으로써 공동체가 번역 과정에 직접 참여하도록 하는 방식을 의미합니다. 여러 선교 단체들이 같은 지역에서 함께 사역하는 경우가 점점 늘어나면서, 지도자들은 무엇보다도 더욱 적극적이고 긴밀한 협력이 필요하다고 강조했습니다. 킴비 박사는 연합과 조합이 있다면, 여러 기관이 함께 존재하는 것 자체가 장애가 되는 것은 아니라고 했습니다. 모든 기관이 똑같은 방식으로 일하는 ‘획일성’보다는, 단체 각각의 고유한 강점을 활용해 하나님의 세계 선교에 협력적으로 참여해야 한다고 강조했습니다.

Bible translation’s future is diverse: Community-led translation
Global Bible translation is undergoing a significant paradigm shift from traditional, agency-led book printing to multimodal, community-driven approaches. At a June 2026 gathering in Yaoundé, leaders from Africa, Europe, and Latin America concluded that the true measure of success is no longer the distribution of physical books but the tangible transformation of lives through deep, culturally authentic understanding. Dr. Paul Kimbi emphasized that the future lies in "conversational translation"—a method that engages local communities through listening, active storytelling, and locally adapted communication channels. As multiple agencies increasingly work within the same borders, leaders stress the need for radical collaboration. Kimbi noted that having various agencies is not a hindrance, as long as there is unity and harmony. Rather than uniformity, each agency should leverage its unique strengths to participate collaboratively in God’s global mission.

7명으로 구성된 잘스의 유지보수 지원팀이 최근 케냐에 잘 도착했으며, 앞으로 4주 동안 동역 단체를 지원할 예정입니다. 이들이 건강을 잘 유지하며 필요한 모든 사역을 완수할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요

Weekly prayer with JAARS
Thank God the captain of the Kwadima II is back on board after recovering from hip surgery. We are grateful that the boat reached Cape Vogel, Papua New Guinea, and returned the Dima and Anuki translation teams to Alotau
A seven-member JAARS maintenance support team recently arrived in Kenya to support a partner mission organization for four weeks. Pray that they remain healthy and able to complete all necessary work.
Pray for wisdom for our staff as they prepare to support two land-based transportation solutions for Bible translation and Bible use teams in Colombia and Peru
