Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea

Joseph and Joyce returned to the Alotau Centre by a JAARS airplane from the SIL Ukarumpa Centre in early July as the government of Papua New Guinea eased the restrictions a bit. While staying in the Ukarumpa Centre, the Parks participated in a workshop on grammatical analysis, which helped them in better understanding the Kaninuwa grammar. Please pray for a good consultant check on the Parks' revision of the Kaninuwa grammar as it was handed into a linguistics consultant after the workshop. Pray also that God will keep them safe from the pandemic at the Alotau Centre and they will hear from the Kaninuwa translation team soon through boat-mail so that they can plan for the next steps with the team.

박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 카니누와 부족 성경번역, 파푸아뉴기니

파푸아뉴기니에서 대유행병으로 인한 제재가 완화됨에 따라 박 선교사 부부가 7월 초에 잘스 비행기를 이용해 우까룸빠 본부에서 알로타우 센터로 귀임했습니다. 우까룸빠 본부에 체류하는 동안에는 문법분석 관련 웍샵에 참여하여 카니누와 문법을 분석하고 이해하는 데 큰 도움이 되었습니다. 웍샵 이후에 카니누와 문법 소논문을 수정하여 언어학 자문위원에게 보냈는데 점검이 잘 이뤄지도록, 또한 박 선교사 부부가 알로타우 센터에서 지내는 동안 대유행병으로 부터 안전하도록, 속히 마을과 교신이 되어 팀원들과 다음 사역을 잘 계획할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 

Kingdom Friendship 킹덤 프렌드십

Cree Initiative: Matt and Caitlin Windsor (Hazel, Eli), Oji-Cree project at Kingfisher Lake, Northern Ontario

Matt and Catlin are thankful that there have been no cases of COVID-19 in Kingfisher Lake yet. However, a number of deaths have shaken surrounding communities in the past few months. Local translators and Matt are working mainly from his home office, and the office of the mission house sometimes. The team finished drafts of Galatians, Philippians, and Colossians, and they are now working on Romans as well. One of the team’s goals during these times of relative isolation has been to spend more time practicing the spiritual disciplines that keep us grounded in Christ—reading Scripture, memorizing, and praying. And they have been seeing fruits. The team received funding from Wycliffe for new computers. Praise the Lord! Please pray that God will protect the Kingfisher Lake communities from the pandemic. Pray for the translators as they continue to work from home. Pray also for more virtual meetings to connect with those who are supporters.

크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 매트와 케이틀린 윈저 (헤이즐, 엘리) 선교사

윈저 선교사 가정은 아직 킹피셔레이크 원주민 마을에 코로나바이러스가 발병하지 않은 것에 대해 감사하고 있습니다. 그러나 지난 몇 달 동안 주변 마을에서 사망자가 발생하여 공동체를 공포에 떨게합니다. 원주민 번역가들과 매트는 주로 재택 근무하고 있으며, 요즘은 사무실에서도 가끔씩 모이곤 합니다. 프로젝트 팀은 갈라디아서, 빌립보서, 골로새서 초벌 번역을 마쳤고, 지금은 로마서 번역에 착수했습니다. 자가 격리하는 팀의 목표중 하나는 말씀을 읽고, 암송하고, 기도하는 영적인 훈련으로 더 많은 시간을 보내자는 것인데, 실제로 그 열매가 보입니다. 사역팀이 최근에 위클리프로 부터 새 컴퓨터들을 구매할 수 있는 재정지원을 받았습니다. 하나님을 찬송합니다! 하나님이 이 원주민 공동체를 대유행병으로부터 보호해 주시도록, 원주민 번역가들이 집에서 계속 사역을 잘 감당할 수 있도록, 또한 후방의 후원자들과의 온라인 교제가 잘 이루어 지도록 기도해주세요.

Pray for world-wide transformation: Global
A Salvadoran Christian supporter of Bible translation recently wrote the following: “Pray for all the nations, villages, regions, and ethnolinguistic communities of the earth during the global pandemic. The church of Jesus over the whole earth must be united, independent of doctrine, denominations, and other human differences. We must be as one single body under the command of one Lord and Savior, pleading for an end to this nightmare. Pray that we will accept and practise the lessons learned and demonstrate, with a renewed testimony, our growth in our beloved Lord. The worst disgrace that could happen would be to come out of this pandemic without humbly learning from the Lord about ourselves. It would be the ultimate disease of hard and stubborn hearts.” Pray for transformation in the global church of Jesus and the individual lives of His followers as a result of the world pandemic.

열방의 변화을 위한 기도: 전세계 

최근에 성경 번역을 지원하는 어느 살바도르 성도가 다음과 같이 말합니다. “대유행병에 처한 지구상의 모든 국가, 마을, 지역, 그리고 언어 공동체들을 위하여 기도하십시다. 이 땅의 모든 그리스도의 교회는 교리와 교파 그리고 인종을 초월하여 반드시 하나로 연합해야 합니다. 이 악몽에서 벗어나기를 간구하며 하나이신 주와 구세주를 따라 반드시 한 지체가 되어야합니다. 사랑하는 주안에서 배운 교훈에 따라 행하고 주안에서 우리의 성숙함이 새롭게 되도록, 주께로 부터 우리가 겸손을 배우지 않고 대유행병이 지나간다면 최악의 치욕이 될 것이며 가장 단단하고 완고한 마음의 궁극적인 질병이 될 것입니다.” 데유행병의 결과로 예수 그리스도의 모든 교회들과 주를 따르는 모든 이들의 삶이 변화되도록 기도해주세요.

Persevering for transformation: Guinea Bissau
The staff of ITA, a Guinea Bissau Bible translation organisation, thank God for his care and protection in the midst of the pandemic. Even in lockdown, the translation teams are motivated and continue to work at home. When conditions allow, they gather in the office to analyze what each one has done while at home. Join them in praying for people to experience salvation through the texts translated into their mother tongues.

기니비사우 성경번역 단체인 ITA 사역팀은 대유행병 가운데서 지켜 보호하시는 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 이동이 제한된 어려움 중에도 번역 팀원들이 서로 동기를 부여하고 재택근무를 이어나갑니다. 상황이 허락될 때는 사무실에 모여서 각 팀원들이 집에서 한 일들을 분석합니다. 사람들이 자기네 말로 번역 된 말씀을 통해 구원을 경험하도록 기도로 동참해 주시기 바랍니다.

JAARS is partnering with Faith Comes by Hearing and an African Bible translation organization to help the Ayri* people translate God’s Word in their language. Pray for effective training as they learn to use laptops, headsets, speakers and software provided by JAARS.
