L and C 선교사: 성경번역, 아시아 보안지역 / 원격 사역

L 선교사는 감사하게 대상 언어 습득 과정의 마지막 평가 과정을 잘 마칠 수 있었음에 하나님을 찬양합니다! 공식적인 언어 습득 기간은 마무리되었지만, 번역 작업과 함께 대상 언어 공부는 계속될 예정이며, Z 언어 조력자와 매주 두 번씩 온라인으로 만나 수업을 진행하고 있습니다. 내년 1월 말 경에는 본국사역(안식년)으로 캐나다로 귀국합니다. 원격 사역을 위해 체류 중인 한국에서 다시 캐나다로 이동할 준비를 해야 하는데, 미리 짐 정리를 잘하고 본국 사역을 준비할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 아직 믿지 않는 가족들의 구원과 믿음이 견고해지도록 기도해 주세요.

L and C: Bible translation in a sensitive area of Asia / remote assignment

L praises God that he was thankfully able to complete the final assessment of the Z language acquisition course! Although the formal language acquisition period is over, the Z language study will continue with translation work, and L is meeting online twice a week with a Z language tutor. At the end of January next year, L and C will return to Canada on their home assignment. As L & C prepare to move back to Canada from South Korea, where L & C is serving the Z language group remotely, please pray that L & C are well organized and ready for the home assignment. Pray also for the salvation and strengthening of the faith of family members who do not believe.

박 선교사 부부가 계속 추진 중인 몇 가지 숙제들은; 어린이와 청소년을 위한 이야기책, 번역된 쪽 성경들을 책자로 인쇄하는 일, 그리고 언어학 및 번역 관련 논문을 준비 중인데, 하나님 주시는 지혜와 인내로 이 모든 일들을 잘 감당할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 특별히 카니누와 청년들이 하나님의 사랑을 깨닫고 주께로 돌아오도록, 신약 이해에 꼭 필요한 구약 말씀들을 골라서 번역된, “구약 파노라마”를 한 권의 책으로 편집하고 조판하는 일에 지혜 주시도록, 이미 번역된 요한 문서 (요한복음과 요한 1, 2, 3 서)를 최종 점검해 줄 성경 번역 전문위원 알란 선교사(호주)가 파푸아뉴기니 비자 연장을 수속 중인데 기한 내에 비자가 연장되도록 기도해 주세요.

Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea (PNG)

Some projects the Parks continue to work on are storybooks for children and youth, printing the translated portions of the Bible in booklets, and preparing a dissertation on the Kaninuwa language and translation. Please pray that God will give Joseph the wisdom and patience to accomplish these tasks. Pray for wisdom in editing and typesetting the translated "Old Testament Panorama," a collection of selected Old Testament texts essential to understanding the New Testament. Pray especially for Kaninuwa young adults to realize God's love and turn to the Lord. Pray also for Alan, a Bible translation consultant from Australia, who will be finalizing the already translated Writings of John, Gospel of John, and the books of John 1, 2, and 3, as he is applying for his visa extension for Papua New Guinea.

함께 일하시는 하나님의 영: 에티오피아

위클리프 에티오피아는 38개의 언어로 성경을 번역하고 있습니다. 이 언어들을 위한 성경 번역 프로그램들이 계획대로 진행되어 많은 사람들의 삶에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있게 하심에 감사드립니다. 현재 18개 프로그램들 번역이 진행 중이며 이 중에는 2 개의 수화와 1권의 성경전서가 포함됩니다. 또한 네 권의 신약성경이 올해 말에 출판을 위해 보내집니다. 이 번역이 성공적으로 잘 마무리 되도록 기도해 주세요. 최근 훈련 과정 중에 한 번역 고문이 하나님께서 교회들 사이에서 어떻게 일하시는지에 대해 이야기해 주었습니다. 이들 중 한 팀이 많은 문제와 의견 충돌로 인해 분열의 위기를 겪고 있었는데 하나님의 영이 사람들의 마음을 움직이셔서 서로 사과하게 되었습니다. 이러한 문제들이 해결되는 것을 보는 큰 기쁨으로 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 또한 교회를 기반으로 한 문해력 향상과 성경 활용 노력을 위해 함께 기도해 주세요.

God's Spirit at work: Ethiopia

Wycliffe Ethiopia is involved in translation efforts in 38 languages. Thank God that Bible translation programs for these languages are proceeding as planned so they can positively impact the lives of many people. Eighteen programs have translation in progress, including two sign languages and a full Bible. Four New Testaments are planned to be sent for publication by the end of 2023. Pray that these translations can be successfully completed. During a recent training session, one of the advisers talked about how God is working among churches. One of the teams was experiencing a lot of trouble and disagreements that had caused division in the church. However, through God's Spirit touching people's hearts, those who were previously causing the problem felt compelled by the Spirit of God and apologized to each other. Praise God because this brings great joy to see these issues resolved. Pray also for the church-based literacy and Scripture engagement efforts.

서부 카리브해 크리올어 구약성경 번역: 산 안드레스, 콜롬비아

미주 지역 책임자인 데이비드 선교사와 위클리프 카리브해 지역 책임자인 루스 선교사는 벨리즈, 자메이카와 함께 서부 카리브해 크리올어 구약 성경 클러스터의 일부인 콜롬비아 산안드레스 섬을 방문했습니다. 그들은 12명의 목회자와 교회 지도자들을 만나고 산안드레스에서의 성경 번역과 성경 활용에 대해 얘기하며 교제를 나누는 좋은 시간을 가졌습니다. 데이비드 선교사는 그들에게 콜롬비아 성경 번역 원탁회의 참여를 고려해 보라고 초대했습니다. 이번 방문은 루스 선교사가 카리브해 지역 성도들과의 유대를 강화하고 번역팀과 구전 성경 이야기 팀원들을 직접 만날 수 있었던 중요한 기회였습니다. 서로 간에 유대를 곤고히 하고 성경 번역 노력을 조율할 수 있는 기회 주신 하나님께 감사드립니다.

Western Caribbean Creole Old Testament translation: San Andrés, Colombia

Americas Area Director David Cárdenas and Wycliffe Caribbean Director Ruth Smith-Sutherland visited the Colombian island of San Andrés which is part of the Western Caribbean Creole Old Testament Cluster along with Belize and Jamaica. They met with 12 pastors and church leaders to talk about Bible translation and Scripture engagement in San Andrés. It was a great time of fellowship and affirmation. David invited them to consider joining the Colombian Bible Translation Roundtable. This was an important visit for Ruth to strengthen ties with Caribbean brothers and sisters as well as to meet in person members of the translation and oral Bible storytelling teams. Thank God for this opportunity to strengthen ties and coordinate efforts in Bible translation.

JAARS Prayerline

As JAARS partners with Faith Comes by Hearing, providing technical equipment for its Oral Bible Translation projects, ask God to use this translated Scripture to bless language groups worldwide.

Pray for travel mercies for our staff members who are traveling to celebrate Christ's birth with family and for families coming to JAARS to spend Christmas with staff members.

Pray for Accounting and Partnership Ministry staff as they work additional hours to record year-end gifts to JAARS.
