We are thankful for the safe arrival of L and C back to Canada last week for their home assignment (sabbatical) for a year. Please pray for their good rest and refreshment, continuous training, and partnership development for their ministries.

2월 6일부터 3월 26일까지 매주 화요일 저녁과 3월 16일 하루 종일, 앨버타주 에드먼턴 지역 교회들을 위한 카이로스 한국어 코스가 하이브리드방식으로 열립니다. 팬데믹 이후 다시 열리는 이 코스를 통해 참가하는 성도들이 선교적 삶의 도전을 받을 뿐만 아니라, 지역 내에 하나님의 선교 운동이 재개되고 활성화 되도록 기도해 주세요. 책임 조력자로 섬기는 이 선교사 부부와 함께 팀으로 섬기는 조력자들을 위해서도 기도해 주세요.

Kairos Korean Course for churches in the Edmonton area

A hybrid Korean Kairos course for churches in the Edmonton area will be held every Tuesday evening from February 6 to March 26 online and one day on March 16 in person. Pray that this post-pandemic course will challenge the participating believers to live a missional life and that God's missionary movement in the region will be renewed and revitalized. Pray also for Gyoojun and Jinsook, who will serve as head facilitators with other facilitators as a team.

K 프로젝트 이야기: 국제 전문인 사역자들과의 만남

K 프로젝트 리더는 태국에서 열린 다중언어 교육에 관한 국제 컨퍼런스에 참석했습니다. 그는 어린이들에게 환경, 기후 변화 및 그 영향에 대해 가르치는 데 있어 다중언어 교육의 역할에 대해 발표했습니다. 그곳에서 '홈그로운 교사 장학금 프로그램'을 개발한 단체를 알게 되었는데, 이 단체는 태국의 18개 대학교들과 협력하여 매년 300명의 신규 교사들을 선발하고 4년간의 연수 기간 동안 장학금을 제공합니다. 그런 다음 이 교사들이 모국어 기반 다중 언어 학교에 배치되어 해당 소수 민족 언어를 사용하는 학생들을 가르칩니다. 소수 민족 청년들이 교사가 되기 위해 공부하는 데 필요한 재정 지원과 향후 안정적인 일자리도 제공되는 것입니다! 그는 자기네 나라에서도 비슷한 전략을 실행할 수 있기를 희망합니다. 프로젝트 리더와 팀원들의 건강을 위해 계속 기도해 주세요. 최근에는 허리 통증이 심해졌습니다. 리더의 장모는 백내장 수술을 무사히 잘 마쳤고, 시력도 많이 좋아졌습니다. 1월에 셋째 아이를 임신하고 출산한 후 건강상 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 딸이 최근 한 달 넘게 신장 결석으로 고생하고 있는데, 세 명의 어린 자녀를 키우면서 생활하기가 매우 힘들어합니다. 그녀의 건강을 회복시켜 주시도록 기도해 주세요.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)
K Story: International Professional Exposure

The K project leader attended an international conference on multilingual education in Thailand. He gave a presentation about the role of multilingual educational teaching in teaching children to exercise about their environment, climate change, and its impacts. There, he learned about a new program they had developed. The organization partners with eighteen universities in Thailand to take in 300 new teachers a year and provide scholarships for four years of training. These teachers are then deployed to teach in Mother-Tongue-Based Multilingual Education schools where their indigenous minority languages are spoken. It provides financial assistance for indigenous young adults to study to become teachers and stable employment into the future! He hopes a similar strategy can be implemented in his own country. Please continue to pray for the project leader’s health. Most recently, he has had a lot of lower back pain. Thank you for your prayers for the SIL team’s family. The wife’s mother was able to go ahead with her cataract surgery and did very well, and her vision has improved. Please continue to pray for the SIL team and their family, in particular their daughter, who has had many health challenges since the pregnancy and birth of her third child in January. Her latest struggle for over a month is with kidney stones, which are very difficult to manage with three young children. Pray that the Lord would restore her health.

공동체와 우정을 위해 열린 문: 카메룬

지난 12월, 국제 연대 커뮤니케이션 팀과 기도 팀은 야운데에 있는 카메룬 성경 번역 및 문해 협회(CABTAL)의 공동체와 자리를 함께 했습니다. 야운데 사역팀과 언어 팀원들이 크게 환영하며 서로 교제할 수 있었던 귀한 모임 이었습니다. 이 팀들과 함께 직접 만나 함께 기도할 수 있게 하신 하나님께 감사드립니다. 국제 연대 자문 위원인 조 존슨 선교사는 현지 번역 팀들과 직접 만나고 성경을 번역하고 확인하는 모습을 볼 수 있어서 좋았다고 말했습니다. 또한 이 팀이 CAPTAL에서 회의를 마무리할 준비를 하고 있는 동안 카메룬 성서공회 포럼에 속한 여러 사역 단체들의 지도자들이 같은 장소에서 회의를 열기 위해 도착하고 있었습니다. CABTAL의 열린 문들과 이같은 협력을 허락해 주신 하나님을 찬양합니다.
 

Open doors for community and friendship: Cameroon

In December, the Alliance Communication and Prayer teams joined the community of the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL) in Yaoundé. This was the setting for their meeting, an initiative greatly appreciated by the CABTAL staff and language teams in Yaoundé, with whom they shared interaction. Thank God these teams could meet and pray firsthand Jo Johnson, Alliance Consultant for Prayer Advocacy, said it was wonderful to be there, to have personal contact with translation teams, and to see people translating and checking the Scriptures. While the team was getting ready to finish its meeting at the CABTAL center, leaders from organizations in the Forum of Bible Agencies of Cameroon were arriving to hold their meeting on the same premises. Praise God for CABTAL’s open doors and these collaborative connections.

함께 계획하고 기도하기: 인도네시아

지난 11월 초에 23개 교단과 21개 단체들로부터 120명의 리더들이 모여 인도네시아의 성경 번역 진행 상황을 나누고 2024년에 시작될 새로운 번역 프로젝트에 관한 계획을 조정하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 교회들과 동역자들은 앞으로의 12개월 동안 성경 번역에 60개의 새로운 언어 공동체를 참여시킬 계획을 가지고 있습니다. 이 모임에서 리더들은 공동의 비전, 사명, 협력 원칙에 동의한 후, 대형 지도를 중심으로 모여 인도네시아를 위해 기도하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 많은 사람들이 각자 자기네 모어로 하나님의 나라가 임하고 그분의 뜻이 하늘에서 이루어진 것 같이 그들 가운데도 이루어지기를 함께 기도했습니다. 또한 내년에 새로운 공동체에서 번역 프로젝트를 계획하고 시행하는 교회들과 기관들을 위해, 서로의 연합과 열린 문들을 허락하시고 프로젝트를 지원하는데 필요한 자원, 특별히 번역 자문의원들을 채워 주시도록 함께 기도해 주세요.

Planning and praying together: Indonesia

In early November, 120 leaders from 23 church denominations and 21 organizations gathered to share progress in Bible translation in Indonesia and coordinate plans to start new translation projects in 2024. The churches and partners plan to engage 60 new language communities in Bible translation in the next 12 months. After agreeing on a shared vision, mission, and principles for collaboration, leaders gathered around a large floor map for an extended prayer time for the people of Indonesia. Many prayed in their own mother tongues for God's kingdom to come and his will to be done among them as it is in heaven. Pray for these churches and organizations as they plan and implement translation projects in new communities in the coming year. Pray for unity, open doors, and the resources needed to support these projects, particularly for the provision of translation consultants.

JAARS Prayerline

Ask God’s provision for the funds to acquire a 4WD vehicle for the Peruvian highland organization AIDIA. It works in five translation projects in the highlands and jungle and will begin translation in several more.

Pray for the Aviation team working on expanding facilities for our JATO (JAARS Assisted Take-Off) program in the hangar.

Keep Rachael Stoner and our Missions at the Airport team in prayer as they plan for 2024 aviation ministry events.
