위클리프 태국 방문 결과 보고

이규준 선교사가 지난달 태국 국제모임 참가 중 위클리프 태국 본부를 방문하고 왓 대표선교사와 함께 교제하며 지속적인 동역에 대해 논의했습니다. 10월 28일 봉헌식을 앞두고 있는 새 본부 건물을 둘러보며, 태국 교회 동원, 선교사 및 현지인 사역자 훈련, 구전 및 수화 성경 녹음및 녹화 등의 다목적 사역을 위해 잘 준비되어 있는 것을 보고 감사할 수 있었습니다. 현재 건축비는 모두 완불되었고 녹음 및 녹화 등 스튜디오에 설치용 장비들을 채워 넣고 뜰 조경을 위한 기금 모금을 위해 기도하고 있습니다. 또한 2천2백만이나 되는 이사안(Isaan) 언어로 된 성경번역 프로젝트를 위해 조이 선교사가 2024년부터 성경 이야기 구연 방식의 성경 번역을 시작할 계획입니다. 상반기에는 언어 조사를 마치고, 하반기부터 1년 동안 성경 이야기 구연 방식으로 번역을 시도해보는 계획입니다. 조이 선교사와 프로젝트를 위해 기도해 주세요. 왓 대표선교사는 캘거리에 있는 킹덤 프렌드십 교회인 베다니채플 초청으로 아내 지미선교사와 함께 11월 8일부터 28일까지 3주 동안 캘거리를 방문할 예정입니다. 모든 계획들과 일정을 위해, 그리고 디아스포라 교회들도 이 시기에 맞춰 잘 협력과 동역이 이뤄질 수 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Wycliffe Thailand Visit Report

Wycliffe Thailand Visit Report Gyoojun was able to visit Wycliffe Thailand's newly-built headquarters during his ministries in Thailand last month, to have fellowship with President Wat and to discuss the ongoing cooperation between Wycliffe Thai Foundation and diaspora churches in Canada. Gyoojun was very thankful to see the new headquarters building, to be dedicated on October 28, as it is well designed and equipped for the multi-faceted ministries of mobilizing the Thai church, training missionaries and national translators, and recording oral and sign language Bibles. The building is now paid for, and we are praying for funds for the audio-video recording equipment for the studio, and for landscaping for the courtyard of the headquarters building. Wycliffe Thai Foundation is also planning to launch the Isaan Bible Translation Project, using the Oral Bible Storying method. The Isaan language is spoken by 22 million people. Missionary Joy is going to begin the project in 2024. The plan is to complete the language survey in the first half of the year, and then try a year of Bible storytelling in the second half of the year, and pilot OBT for a year. Pray for Missionary Joy and the project. Wat with his wife Jimmie will be visiting Calgary for three weeks from November 8-28 at the invitation of Bethany Chapel, a Kingdom Friendship Church of Wycliffe Thai Foundation, in Calgary. Pray for all the details of his visiting plan, and that diaspora churches in Canada will be able to invite them around this time.

성경 번역 운동에 봉사할 수 있는 기회!

캐나다 원주민 성경 번역 사역을 섬기는, 윈저, 리드, 스캇 선교사 가족들 모두 원주민 번역가 워크숍에서 인도자로 섬길 예정인데, 모두 7세 미만의 어린 자녀들을 두고 있습니다. 11월 5일부터 10일까지 온타리오주 구엘프에서 열리는 워크숍 주간에 아이들을 돌봐줄 자원봉사자가 최소 2명 이상 필요합니다. 일주일 동안 숙식을 제공해 드리지만, 교통편은 자원봉사자가 직접 마련하셔야 합니다. 성경 번역 선교에 단기 자원봉사로 동참해 주실 분은 한인 사무국으로 이메일(Gyoojun_Lee@wycliffe.ca) 또는 전화(416-888-2262)로 연락해 주시기 바랍니다.

Bible Translation Movement!

An Opportunity to serve the Bible Translation Movement! Wycliffe missionary families, the Windsors, Reeds and Scotts, are all serving on staff at the First Nations translator workshop and all have children under the age of seven. We need at least two volunteers to help with childcare for the workshop week that will be held November 5-10 in Guelph, Ontario. We could provide meals and lodging for the week, but the volunteers would need to provide their own transportation. 크리 원주민 성경 번역 운동: 기도 업데이트

마틴과 앨리스 선교사 가정은 8월의 대부분을 미국 텍사스에서 보내며 선교 후원자들을 만나고 사역 팀을 구성했습니다. 앞으로의 중요한 사역 방향을 결정하려고 할 때 성령께서 선히 인도해 주시도록 기도해 주세요. 블랙풋 성경 번역 프로젝트의 착수를 추진중인데 모든 것이 하나님의 뜻과 목적, 그리고 하나님의 때에 잘 맞도록 기도해 주세요. 위클리프 팀(빌, 마틴, 그리고 앨리스 선교사 포함)은 캐나다성서공회와 함께 작년 9월에 블랙풋의 관심있는 원주민들을 대상으로 번역 탐색 워크숍을 개최했습니다. 워크숍은 매우 호평을 받았지만 다음 단계에 대한 논의가 지연되고 있습니다. 이제는 이 프로젝트의 범위, 일정, 예산, 행정에 대한 올바른 분별력이 필요할 때 입니다. 속히 번역을 착수할 수 있도록 주께서 문을 열어주시도록 손모아 주세요. 본부의 현지 사역 코디네이터인 댄 선교사의 기도 업데이트입니다: "11월에 열리는 크리 원주민 번역가 워크숍에 최대 8명의 원주민 번역가로 구성된 팀이 참석할 예정이고, 이 모임에 대한 열망이 큽니다!" 마틴 선교사가 비씨주를 방문할 때, 원주민 교회 지도자들과의 유익한 만남들을 기대하고 이 지역의 위클리프 동료 선교사들, 그리고 동역 단체와의 관계도 강화하게 되도록 기도해 주세요.

Cree initiative: Prayer Updates

The Reeds spent most of August in Texas to update their partners and build their ministry team. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them as they work towards consensus on important decisions. May God’s will, purpose, and timing prevail for the potential start of a Blackfoot Scripture translation project. Wycliffe (including Bill, Martin and Alice), along with the Canadian Bible Society, held an exploratory translation workshop for interested Blackfoot speakers in September 2022. It was very well received, but there have been delays in talking about possible next steps. Now they need to right discernment for the scope of the projects, timelines, budgets, and administration. May the Lord open the way forward so that they may begin translation soon. Update from Dan Grove, the Field Partner Liaison: “There will be a team of up to eight translators attending the First Nations Translator workshop in November. They are eager to begin!” Pray also for Martin’s upcoming trip to British Columbia for planning, for fruitful conversations with Indigenous church leaders, and for strengthening relationships with Wycliffe colleagues and partner organizations in the area.

역경에 맞서기: 에티오피아

위클리프 에티오피아는 창립 이래 특정 지역 분쟁, 국가 재정의 불안정, 인적 자원 문제 등 다양한 도전에 직면해 왔습니다. 몇몇 번역가들은 정세 불안으로 인해 심각한 영향을 받았고 일 부 팀원들은 목숨을 잃기도 했습니다. 이 트라우마로 인해 영향을 받은 모든 사람들을 위한 하나님의 치유를 위해 기도해 주세요. 많은 손실에도 불구하고 단체가 이 어려운 상황을 견디고 남은 팀원들과 함께 인내하며 보안상 프로젝트 인력을 다른 지역으로 재배치할 수 있도록 도와주신 하나님께 감사드립니다. 불안정한 재정으로 인해 몇몇 성경 번역 프로그램에서 현지인 번역가들을 재배치하는 데 추가 예산이 발생했습니다. 국내의 전반적인 평화와 특별히 안전한 사역 환경을 위해 기도해 주시고. 정보통신 사역자들이 기술 및 디지털 발전에 대한 최신 정보를 얻을 수 있고 상황에 적절한 조치들을 취하므로 잠재적인 위협과 기회를 잘 분별하는 역량을 구축할 수 있도록 허락하신 하나님께 또한 감사드립니다.

Standing against adversity: Ethiopia

Since its establishment, Wycliffe Ethiopia has faced various challenges, particularly in terms of conflict in certain regions, financial instability in the country and human resource concerns. Some translators were significantly impacted by the unrest and a few team members lost their lives. Pray for God’s healing for all affected by this trauma. Thank God that despite the losses, he helped the organization to survive in this stressful situation, to persevere with the remaining team members and to relocate project workers to other areas for security. Due to the unstable financial environment, some of the Bible translation programs incurred additional costs to relocate translators. Pray for overall peace in the country and particularly a safer working environment. Thank God for the capacity building of Wycliffe Ethiopia IT staff which enables leaders to identify potential threats and opportunities, to take appropriate actions and to stay up-to-date on technological and digital advancements.

지난 8월 말부터 9월 초까지 자메이카 번역 팀원 6명이 창세기 출판을 앞두고 자문위원 점검 워크숍을 위해 대면으로 모였습니다. 이 팀원 중에는 IT 전문가, 엔지니어, 행정가, 의사 등 자신들의 본업이 따로 있습니다. 구전 성경 이야기 코디네이터인 SIL의 프로젝트 자문위원 데이비드 선교사와 서인도 제도 모나자메이카 대학교의 언어 자문위원도 하루 동안 이 팀에 합류했습니다. 팀은 정확성과 자연스러움을 점검하고 원문에 충실하면서도 마을 점검과 점검자들의 피드백을 바탕으로 수정 사항을 반영했습니다. 일주일에 성경 50장을 점검한다는 것은 꽤나 힘든 일이었지만 36 장을 마칠 수 있도록 도우신 하나님을 찬양합니다. 자메이카 크리올어로 하나님의 말씀을 듣는 것은 정말 특별한 경험이었고 이야기가 책 속에서 튀어나와 생생하게 살아서 듣는 이의 마음을 움직이며 강한 감동마저 불러일으켰습니다. 각 자의 본업과 바쁜 일정 중에도 시간을 드려 창세기 출판을 위한 점검과 준비에 참여해 준 팀원들의 신실하심을 인하여 하나님을 찬송합니다.

Collaborating with Bible translation by means of their specialty: Caribbean

From 28 August to 1 September, six members of the Jamaican translation team met in person for a consultant checking workshop of Genesis prior to its publication. Some of the team members have full-time jobs. There is an IT specialist, an engineer, an administrator and a medical doctor. The team was joined by the oral Bible story coordinator, SIL´s project consultant David Frank and for one day by the language consultant from the University of the West Indies, Mona Jamaica. The team worked diligently each day, doing accuracy and naturalness checks, always keeping an eye on faithfulness to the original text while incorporating changes based on feedback from community testing and the reviewers. It was quite a task to attempt the checking of 50 chapters in one week. Praise God that they were able to complete 36. It was an exhilarating experience hearing God's Word in Jamaican Creole, with the stories coming to life and leaping off the pages, evoking strong emotions as it touched their hearts. Praise God for the faithfulness of the team to take time out of their full-time jobs and busy schedules to participate in the checking and preparation of Genesis for publication.

10월 21일은 잘스의 항공 조종사인 나드 푸가야오 선교사가 자기 모국어인 필리핀의 이스나그 부족어로 번역된 성경을 봉헌하고 축하하는 행사가 있는 날입니다. 이스나그 부족을 위해 말씀을 주신 신실하신 우리 하나님을 찬송합니다.

Ask God to provide safety for our shipment of a substantial quantity of water safety gear to the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Pray for our recruiting efforts for expanded JAARS staff. Ask that we will be adaptable in reaching out to the next generation and grow in our ability to mentor them.

Today, Oct 21, JAARS pilot Nard Pugyao is hosting a celebration for the completion and dedication of the Bible in Isnag, his mother tongue. We praise God for his faithful provision for the Isnag people.
