알버트/마르다 (이삭, 모세) 선교사: 위클리프 대만 대표, 보안국 지역 책임자

대만 위클리프에서는 8/21(월) 월례기도회 및 나눔 시간에 성경번역과 AI (인공지능)에 대해 좌담회를 개최하며, 대만성서공회와 번역자문위원들과, AI 개발자들, 원주민 협의회 대표 등이 참석합니다. 이 좌담회를 통해 AI와 성경번역에 대해 새로운 이해가 있도록 기도해주세요. 알버트 선교사는 내년 2월 21일 세계 모어의 날에 맞춰 대만의 원주민 교회들을 방문하며 성경번역을 위한 홍보와 기금마련에 나서는 자전거 여행을 기획하고 있습니다. 하나님께서 알버트와 함께 헌신할 동역자들을 보내주시고, 하나님의 원하시는 일들이 이뤄지는 계획이 세워지도록 기도해 주세요. 마르다 선교사는 지난 7월에 있었던 지부 총회에 잘 참석하고 돌아왔습니다. 도전이 되는 상황에서도 계속되는 성경번역 사역과 현지인 사역자들의 헌신, 창의적인 사역들에 감사드립니다. 선교사들과 현지인 사역자들의 안전을 위해, 마르다 선교사도 맡은 지역 사역자들을 잘 섬기도록 기도해 주세요.

Albert and Martha (Isaac, Moses): Director of Wycliffe Taiwan and Regional Manager of a sensitive area, respectively

Wycliffe in Taiwan is hosting a discussion on Bible translation and artificial intelligence (AI) during our monthly prayer and sharing time on Monday, August 21, featuring representatives from the Taiwan Bible Society, the Translators' Advisory Board, and representatives from the indigenous peoples association will participate. Pray that we will have a new understanding of AI and Bible translation through this discussion. Albert is planning a fundraising bicycle trip to visit indigenous churches in Taiwan next February for World Mother Tongue Day (Feb 21, 2024) to raise awareness and funds for Bible translation. Pray that God will bring us good partners and allow him to have a plan that will accomplish what God wants to do. Martha returned from the member conference in July and is thankful for the ongoing work of Bible translation, the dedication of local workers, and the creative works done in challenging circumstances by God's grace. Pray for the safety of the missionaries and local workers, and for Martha to serve the workers in the region she is assigned to.

오는 8/15-17일에 대한기도원에서 라이프게임이 열립니다. 토론토지역의 미주한인예수교장로회 교회 연합 청소년 수련회를 위해 열리는데, 참가자들과 섬기는 스탭들 모두에게 하나님의 귀한 음성이 들려지고, 아직도 믿음이 없는 자들에게는 신앙고백의 역사가, 믿는 자들에게는 제자 삶는 값진 삶에로 헌신하는 역사가, 목회와 선교에 풀타임으로 헌신하는 사람들이 일어서게 기도해 주세요. 적은 수로 섬기는 이규준 한진숙 선교사와 자원봉사 스탭들에게 하나님께서 힘과 지혜 더하시도록 기도해 주세요.

LiFEgame will be held at Daehan Prayer Group retreat center this week, August 15-17, for the youths from Korean Presbyterian Churches in America, in the Greater Toronto Area. Pray that God's precious voice will be heard by participants and staff alike, that those who are still unbelievers will make a confession of their faith in Jesus, that those who are believers will commit to a life of discipleship, and that those who are committed to full-time ministry and mission will rise up. Pray that God will add strength and wisdom to Gyoojun and Jinsook, and the volunteer staff as they serve in fewer numbers than needed.

현지인 번역사역자가 받은 은혜: SRA, 로타리 언어

현지인 성경번역 사역자 제임스는 최근에 사복음서를 종합한 "예수님의 생애 이야기" 번역을 마치고 여러번 점검 작업을 받았습니다. 점검작업을 도와주러 왔던 이웃 탁트 언어 누르 목사가 그에게 번역작업에 대해 어떻게 생각하느냐고 질문했을 때, 제임스는 정말 인상 깊은 대답을 남겼습니다. "이 번역 작업은 남을 위해서가 아니라 절 위해서 한 것 같습니다." 제임스는 하나님이 어떤분이신지 바로 알고자 하는 불같은 열정으로 이 번역 작업에 많은 걸 투자했던 게 분명합니다. 제임스의 삶에 변혁을 일으켜주신 하나님을 찬양합니다. 동일한 일이 로타리공동체 전체에 꽃피어나 (씨가 되어 전해지)고 있습니다. 예수님의 생애 이야기뿐 아니라 로타리 언어로 번역된 말씀들 모두가 다 로타리 언어 공동체 모두의 마음에 울려퍼질 줄 믿습니다.

Transformation of a national translator: Lotari, SRA

James, a Lotari Bible translator, had recently finished his translation of "The Life Story of Jesus," a synthesis of the four Gospels, and was being checked several times. When Pastor Noor of the neighboring Tact language, came to help with the checking, he asked James what how he feels about the translation ministry, James' response left a lasting impression: "I feel like I'm doing this translation for myself, not just for others, but for me." It was evident that James had become deeply invested in this work, driven by a burning desire to comprehend the true nature of God. Praise be to God for the incredible transformation taking place in James' life! What began as a personal journey of understanding has blossomed into a gift for the entire community. Through James' meticulous efforts and heartfelt dedication, we believe that these translated stories, including the Life of Christ, will resonate with the hearts of many in the Lotari community.

성경을 다운로드해 읽고 있는 니인드루 언어 민족: 파푸아뉴기니

파푸아뉴기니 마누스 섬 지방의 니인드루 언어 민족은 신약성경이 완성된 지 20년이 지난 지금도 계속해서 성경을 읽고 있습니다. 이들은 ebible.org 웹사이트에서 한 달에 약 4,000회의 정도로 닌드루성경을 다운로드하고 있습니다. 휴대폰을 통해 모국어 성경 말씀을 읽을 때 하나님의 말씀이 이들의 삶에 영향을 미치도록, 그리고 진행되고 있는 구약 성경 번역을 위해서 기도해 주세요. 개인적인 문제로 인해 수년 전에 번역 팀을 떠났다가 이제 구약 성경 번역을 돕기 위해 돌아온 디모데 쿤드레이크로 인해 주님을 찬양합니다.

Nyindrou people download and read Scriptures: Papua New Guinea

The Nyindrou people of Manus continue to read the Scriptures even now, 20 years after the New Testament was completed. The people have been downloading the Nyindrou Scriptures at a rate of about 4,000 downloads per month from the ebible.org website. Pray that his Word will impact the lives of the Nyindrou people as they read it in their own language from their mobile phones. Pray for the Old Testament translation in progress. Praise the Lord that Timothy Kundrake, who left the translation team many years ago due to personal problems, has now returned to help with the Old Testament translation.

둘째 날 참가자들이 자기 말인 바얀 언어로 간단한 번역 작업을 실습했는데, 끝날 무렵 참가자들은 얼마나 빨리 번역 프로젝트를 시작할 수 있을 지 물었습니다. 이것은 워크샵 진행 팀이 경험한 가장 놀랍고 예상치 못한 일 중 하나였습니다. 참석한 교회와 공통체 멤버들이 자발적으로 이구동성의반응을 보였고 학계의 사람들도 철자법 등을 기꺼이 도와주겠다고 확언했음을 인해 하나님을 찬양합니다. 바얀어를 사용하는 이들의 필요에 하나님께서 어떻게 응답하실지를 기대하며 함께 기도해 주세요.

Bible translation leads to a transformative decision: Caribbean

The Wycliffe Caribbean team of facilitators from Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Jamaica, and Barbados held a Taste of Translation workshop from 13-20 June in Barbados. No one knew what to expect from this workshop; of all the former British colonies, Barbados was seen as the most unlikely to express a need for Bible translation. In fact, they have been referred to as “little England” because of their preference for English. However, the first day of the workshop began with eager participants who arrived as much as 90 minutes early. By the end of that first day, one participant spontaneously broke into song and invited the others to join in: "Da buk is mine a go read it evriday." She said, “We must do this for our children, for us and future generations."

By the end of the second day when participants had completed the brief translation exercise in their Bajan Dialect, they asked how soon they could start a translation project. It was one of the most remarkable and unexpected experiences that the team has had. Praise God for this spontaneous and resounding response from the church and community members who were present, which was followed by assurance from those in academia of their willingness to assist with the orthography. Pray for what God will do for Bajan speakers in response to this expressed need.

JAARS Prayerline

Pray for the JAARS land transportation instructors and the students who take their 4WD operation and maintenance course in PNG this month.

Pray for SIL colleagues in the Sudan region who are experiencing major challenges from the violence that has spread across the country. Some have gone to refugee camps.

Pray for creativity and wisdom for our communications team members as they update our website and other materials to reflect the new mission and future of JAARS.
