Pray for Missionaries (5): Boldness

There are many ways to pray for missionaries and Bible translation. Perhaps God has placed a desire in your heart to pray for missionaries everywhere, or maybe for one particular missionary. Missionaries deal with many of the same stresses you face in life, like overwhelming workloads, sickness, and financial uncertainties. Often, however, missionaries struggle with these issues alone. Missionaries are regular people who fear pain and rejection as much as anyone else. When faced with opposition, they need God’s strength to help them stand firm. Please pray that 

the Holy Spirit will provide missionaries with words that communicate effectively in other cultures and languages.

Pray that they will have boldness to overcome the fear of embarrassment or failure. Pray against evil forces that would seek to hinder the spread of the gospel.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel... Ephesians 6:19 (NIV)

선교사들을 위해 기도해 주세요(5): 담대함

선교사들과 성경 번역을 위하여 여러 방법으로 기도할 수 있습니다. 아마도 하나님께서 만방에 흩어진 선교사들을 위하여, 아니면 어느 특정 선교사를 위하여 기도할 마음을 주실것입니다. 선교사들도 여러분의 삶가운데 만나는 동일한 스트레스, 과중한 일거리, 질병, 그리고 예상치 못하는 재정상의 어려움과 씨름해야합니다. 뿐만 아니라, 선교사들은 이러한 어려움들을 홀로 감당해야 할 때도 있습니다. 선교사도 다른 사람들과 같이 고통과 거부를 두려워하는 보통 사람들입니다. 반대에 직면했을 때 확고한 입장을 취할 수 있도록 하나님의 능력이 필요합니다. 성령께서 타문화와 언어상황에서 효과적으로 소통할 수있는 지혜의 말을 선교사들에게 공급해 주시도록, 당혹감이나 실패에 대한 두려움을 극복 할 수있는 담대함을 갖도록, 복음 전파를 방해하려는 모든 악한 세력들을 극복하도록 기도해주세요.

또 나를 위하여 구할 것은 내게 말씀을 주사 나로 입을 열어 복음의 비밀을 담대히 알리게 하옵소서 할 것이니…에베소서 6장 19절 (개역개정)

Naomi and Makiah: academic internship, First Nations Bible Translation initiative

Praise the Lord! By your prayers, Bill and Norma Jean safely arrived in the Naskapi community of Kawawachikamach outside Schefferville, Quebec last week. The team is back to work with the Naskapi translation team there on their Old Testament translation, Scripture engagement and literacy projects. They travelled with two students from CanIL (Canada Institute of Linguistics) who are serving in an academic internship with the Naskapi project: Naomi Dueck and Makiah Knight. The Naskapi translators began well with an all-day session on Friday of Bible study, project planning and translation checking—they worked with translator Amanda, "team checking" a chapter of the book of Joshua. Please pray that the team will have productive and instructive times with the Naskapi translation team, and for God's continued leading and guidance in the team members, the lives of the Naskapi translators (Amanda, Tshiueten, Ruby and Silas) and for the internship of Makiah and Naomi.

나오미와 마키아 자매: 학업 인턴십, 원주민 성경 번역 운동

하나님을 찬송합니다! 여러분의 기도로 빌과 노르마 진 선교사 일행이 우여곡절 끝에 나스카피 원주민 마을이 있는 퀘백주 쉬퍼빌 외곽 카와와치까막에 안전하게 도착했습니다. 이제 구약 번역, 성경 활용및 문해 프로젝트로 나스카피 원주민 번역팀과 함께 다시 일하게 됩니다. 특별히 이번 여행에는 나스카피 프로젝트를 통하여 학업 인턴십을 제공하는 캐나다언어문화연구소(대학원) 학생들인 나오미와 마키아 자매가 동행했습니다. 나스카피 번역가들은 금요일의 성경 연구, 프로젝트 기획을 위한 하나절 세션으로 시작하여 여호수아의 한 장을, 원주민 번역가 아만다와 함께 “팀 점검” 과정도 가졌습니다. 나스카피 원주민 번역팀과의 생산적이고 유익한 시간을 위하여,  특별히 팀원들과 원주민 번역가들 (아만다, 시우턴, 루비와 실라) 의 삶과 인턴쉽중인 마키아와 나오미 자매에 대한 하나님의 지속적인 인도와 지도하심을 위해 손모아주세요.

Peace and Hope: Sudan

Pray for peace and hope for colleagues from the Episcopal Church of Sudan Translation Department who were in Kenya 22 to 27 April for management training. They came during the political crisis in their country after the President was removed from office. Many followers of Jesus in Sudan have experience very difficult circumstances, opposition and have lived in fear. Some express hope that their situation might change and that they will live in peace. Several of men who attended the training have not seen their families in almost 10 years because their wives and children live in a restricted region of the country. Pray for the restoration of peace and calm in Sudan, particularly that living situation will improve for followers of Jesus. Pray that the Archbishop of the Episcopal Church will lead the Church in demonstrating the peace, joy and love of Christ.

평화와 소망: 수단

지난 4월 22-27일 케냐에서 관리자 훈련을 받은 수단 성공회 번역팀원들의 평화와 소망을 위해 기도해주세요. 수단 대통령이 축출된 후 정치적인 위기 가운데 이들이 케냐에 왔습니다. 수단의 많은 성도들은 어려운 상황가운데 반대와 두려움 속에서 살고 있습니다. 어떤 이들은 상황이 바뀌어 평안함 속에 살 수 있기를 소망하고 있는데 이 훈련에 참가한 몇 남성들은 아내와 아이들이 제한 지역에 살고 있기 때문에 거의 10 년 동안 가족을 만나지 못하고 있습니다. 수단에 평화가 회복되고 안정을 되찾도록, 특히 신자들의 삶의 환경이 개선되도록, 성공회 대주교가 그리스도의 평화와 기쁨과 사랑을 보여주기 위해 교회를 잘 이끌도록 손모아주세요.

Prayer Retreat and Workshop: Republic of Trinidad and Tobago – Follow up

“Enlarge the place of your tent” (see Isaiah 54: 2-3) is the theme of the Prayer Retreat and Workshop May 16-18 in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Participants will represent teams within the Wycliffe Caribbean organization and local churches. During the retreat portion, they will join in praise and worship, have personal reflection and prayer times, and experience ways to enrich their times with the Lord. During the training portion they will participate in various activities related to prayer for Bible translation and for the people and nations of the world. They will prepare strategic plans for encouraging churches and organizations to pray more for Bible translation and God’s work in the world. Pray that the facilitators for the event will be sensitive to leading of the Holy Spirit. Ask God to refresh those attending and give them a renewed passion to mobilize others to pray.

기도 수련회와 워크샵: 트리니다드 토바고-후속 조치

“네 장막터를 넓혀라”(이사야 54:2-3) 라는 주제로 5월 16-18일 트리니다드 토바고에서 기도 수련회와 워크샵이 열렸습니다. 위클리프 카리브제도 단체들과 지역 교회 대표들이 모여 찬양과 경배, 개인적 묵상과 기도, 주님과의 친밀한 시간들을 보냈고, 훈련중에는 성경 번역과 열방을 위한 여러가지 기도 모임들도 있었습니다. 세계 성경 번역과 하나님의 역사를 위해 교회와 단체들을 격려하는 전략적 계획들도 나누었습니다. 이 대회를 섬긴 이들이 성령의 인도에 민감하도록, 다른 이들을 기도로 동원하는 열정이 새로워지도록 기도해주세요.
