L & C: Bible translation in a country in Asia / Return assignment

L and C were scheduled to return to the field last February, but after consulting with the field-team due to the coronavirus, they decided to wait for a while in safer Korea. They also concluded that it would be wiser not to apply for an entry visa for C at this unstable time. In the midst of COVID-19, please pray that there will be those in the field who stand as worshippers of the Lord and that things become more stable, so that everyone could return to their regular lives. Pray also that L and C do not lose their spiritual fullness and physical strength as well.

L과 C 선교사는 지난 2월에 사역지로 귀임할 예정이었지만 코로나바이러스로 인하여 현지본부와 상의한 결과, 보다 안전한 한국에서 잠시 대기하기로 하였습니다. 아울러 C 선교사의 비자도 지금 신청하지 않는 것이 현명하다는 결론을 얻었습니다. 이 와중에서도 현지에서 자원하는 예배자들이 세워지도록, 속히 상황이 안정되어서 모두가 일상의 삶으로 돌아갈 수 있도록, L and C 선교사 부부가 영적 충만함과 육적인 강건함을 잃지 않도록 기도해주세요.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

Updates re COVID-19 and SRA: Across the whole world, plans are being adjusted as countries take steps to prevent the spread of the virus. The projects in SRA are no exception. Please pray especially for our local colleagues as they respond to the threat, both personally and in their project roles. Not all are believers. May this time of uncertainty and fear cause many people to turn to God in repentance. Pray that believers will give a clear witness to their faith and will serve their communities selflessly. The newly published “Q” translations of Luke and Acts are being distributed by individuals and in book stores. Ask God to use His Word to draw many to Himself.

코로나바이러스 업데이트: 전 세계적으로 바이러스의 확산을 막기 위한 조치들이 취해짐에 따라 계획들이 조정되고 있고 실크 로드 프로젝트도 예외가 아닙니다. 현지인 팀원들이 개인적으로, 또 프로젝트의 담당자로서 이 어려움에 대처하는 동안 특별히 손모아주세요. 이들 모두가 신자는 아닙니다. 불확실성과 두려움의 시간을 만나면서 오히려 많은 사람들이 하나님 앞으로 회개하는 마음 갖게 하옵소서. 신자들은 이번 기회에 자기의 믿음을 명확하게 고백하고 자기네 공동체를 사심없이 섬길 수 있도록 기도해주세요. 새로 출판된 “큐” 부족어 누가복음과 사도행전이 개인별로 그리고 서점을 통해 배포되고 있습니다. 많은 부족 사람들이 자기네 말로 된 성경 말씀을 통하여 하나님께로 인도함 받도록 손모아주세요.

Coronavirus prayer update- 10 April 2020

Christ is risen! This is wonderful news. In this season of ‘bad news’ when the infection rates and numbers of those dying around the world of the Coronavirus are reported across the media. It’s easy to be more focused on shortages of food and medical provisions, fears for family and friends and those impacted the most severely by the Coronavirus than focused on God. Instead, let us lift our eyes to God this Easter weekend and celebrate with joy that Christ died and rose again, conquering sin and death. When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High. He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence. Psalm 91:1-2 TPT As we rejoice in Christ’s resurrection we can find comfort that God is our great confidence and a place to shelter from this storm.

할렐루야! 예수 부활하셨습니다! 코로나바이러스의 감염율과 사망자들의 숫자를 날마다 전해오는 이 어두운 미디어의 홍수속에서 예수님의 부활은 참 놀라운 소식입니다. 식료품, 의료물품의 부족이나 가족과 친구들을 염려하는 두려움, 그리고 코로나바이러스로 인해 고통당하고 있는 이들에 대한 관심을 집중하는 것이 하나님께 마음을 모으는 것보다 더 쉬운 때 입니다. 하지만, 주께로 눈을 들어 그리스도가 우리를 위하여 십자가에 달려 돌아가시고 부활하시므로 죄와 사망을 정복하신 기쁨을 나누는 이번 부활절로 지냅시다. “지존자의 은밀한 곳에 거주하며 전능자의 그늘아래에 사는 자여, 나는 여호와를 향하여 말하기를 그는 나의 피난처요 나의 요새요 내가 의뢰하는 하나님이라 하리니.” 시편 91: 1-2 (개역개정) 우리가 그리스도의 부활을 기뻐할 때, 하나님이 우리의 큰 

의지가 되시므로 폭풍가운데 피난처가 되신다는 위로를 찾을 수 있습니다.

Summer training in linguistics and translation: United States

Dallas International University (DIU) is developing a new summer program for individuals to explore linguistics

and translation without quitting jobs and moving their families. A program like this was offered at the University of North Dakota (SIL-UND) and ended in 2019. The leaders there encouraged DIU to make this opportunity available at the campus in Dallas, Texas. Most of the faculty and staff are in place. DIU leaders and staff members desire to continue the legacy of SIL-UND and to be used by God to train as many people as possible for his work in the Bible translation movement. Pray for God to send students for this program and make it a successful endeavor.
