박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 파푸아뉴기니 카니누와족 성경번역

박 선교사 부부가 몇 가지 건강검진과 치료를 받기 위해 잠시 한국에서 체류하며, 여전히 현지 사역도 원격으로 감당할 수 있음에 감사드립니다. 6월 중순에 인편을 통하여 받기로 한 현지와의 교신이 최근에 여러 경로를 거쳐 박 선교사 부부에게 전해졌는데, “데와데와나"(카니누와 말로 ‘잘 지내고 있습니다’)라고 말합니다. 7월 중에 현지인 번역 팀원들인 책, 레비, 그리고 사이몬이 야고보서의 번역에 집중할 수 있도록, 박 선교사 부부가 한국에서 필요한 진료를 잘 받을 수 있도록, 그리고 한국에서의 여러 만남을 통해 힘을 얻을 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 아래 링크를 통하여 “카니누와 사람들의 일상”을 담은 동영상 사역 소식을 통하여 계속해서 파푸아뉴기니 성경 번역 선교에 동역해 주십시오.

Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea (PNG)

We are thankful that the Parks can still minister remotely, staying in Korea for medical checkups and treatment. A communication from the village that had been supposed to be delivered by hand in mid-June was recently passed to the Parks through several channels. It says that they are “dewadewana” (“we are doing fine” in Kanunuwa language). Please pray for the translation team, Jack, Levi, and Simon, as they focus on translating the Book of James in July. Pray that Joseph and Joyce will be able to get the medical care they need in Korea and that their encounters there will encourage them. 프로젝트 리더인 'W'는 많은 헌신적인 스토리텔러들이 예수님을 알고 믿게 되었다고 알려왔습니다. '타'는 2005년에 예수님을 영접했는데, 그 당시 그녀는 이야기 초안을 점검하는 일도 도왔습니다. “타"는 천사들을 창조하신 하나님의 능력과 주권에 대한 첫 번째 이야기를 들었을 때 하나님을 믿고 신뢰하게 되었습니다. “티"는 불교 배경을 가진 사람이었는데, 지난 약 7년 동안 구전 성경 이야기를 점검하는 일을 돕고 있습니다. 그리스도의 복음이 '타'와 '티'를 비롯해 이야기 점검자로 섬기는 모든 이들에게 구원의 메시지로 들려지고 믿어지는 것을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 잘 만들어진 이야기들이 구전으로 그리고 다양한 매체를 통해 공유될 수 있도록 준비해 주신 하나님께 감사드립니다. '타'와 '티'를 비롯해 성경 이야기들을 통해 믿음을 갖게 된 다른 사람들이 은혜 가운데 성장할 수 있도록, 다른 신자들과 함께 하나님의 말씀을 더 깊이 공부하고 함께 하나님을 예배할 수 있는 기회가 주어지도록 기도해 주세요.

Oral Bible Storying in a Sensitive Area of Asia (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

The project leader, “W,” shared that many committed storytellers have come to know and trust Jesus. “Ta” received Jesus in 2005. At that time, she also helped check the stories. When “Ta” heard the very first story of the power and sovereignty of God creating the angels, Wi believed and put her trust in God. “Ti” is from a Buddhist background. He has been helping check oral Bible stories for about seven years. Praise God that the gospel of Christ is a message of salvation to those who hear and believe, including “Ta” and “Ti” and the others who have served as story checkers. Thank God for the well-crafted stories that are ready to be shared verbally and through different media. Please pray for “Ta” and “Ti” and others who have come to faith through the Bible stories so that they will grow in their faith. Pray for opportunities to join other believers to study God’s Word more fully and worship God together.

현지 언어들에 주목: 나이지리아

나이지리아의 현지 언어들로 성경을 번역하는 것은 나이지리아 성경 번역회와 함께 섬기는 사람들의 열정입니다. 문해력 개발과 이러한 언어를 보존하기 위한 자료 제작은 번역 작업의 중요한 구성 요소입니다. 작년에 나이지리아 성경 번역회는 약 40개 언어 공동체와 협력하여 문해 및 번역 작업을 진행했습니다. 또한 문맹률이 낮은 이들이 하나님의 말씀에 즉각적으로 접근할 수 있는 전략인 구전 성경 번역에 참여하며 이 계획의 일환으로 사람들을 교육하고 구전 번역 교육자를 훈련하며 자문 위원을 추가적으로 양성하는 데도 노력하고 있습니다. 그 결과 더 많은 사람들이 자기네 모어로 하나님의 말씀을 듣게 되었습니다. 이처럼 나이지리아 많은 지역사회에 하나님의 말씀을 통해 변화를 가져다주고 있는 나이지리아 성경 번역회의 노력을 인하여 하나님께 감사드립니다.

Special attention to local languages: Nigeria

Translating the Bible into the heart language of local communities in Nigeria is a passion for those who serve with Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT). Literacy development and the production of materials to preserve these languages are key components of translation work. NBTT engaged with about 40 language communities in literacy and translation in 2023. NBTT also engages in oral Bible translation (OBT), a strategy that enables people who are not literate to have immediate access to portions of God’s Word. Training people in OBT and training OBT trainers is part of this initiative. NBTT is also working to train additional consultants. As a result, more and more people hear God's Word in their languages. Thank God for these NBTT endeavors that help bring transformation through God’s Word to many Nigerian communities.

Translators complete Biblical Hebrew training: Israel.

Please pray for the latest cohort of student translators who graduated on 21 June from Whole Word Institute’s nine-month School of Biblical Hebrew. They have been living in residence in Jerusalem and have finished despite great turmoil and war in Israel. Whole Word Institute staff are thrilled to commission them to work on translations straight from the biblical text for languages that don’t have the whole Bible. Some students will stay on to begin their MA Programs in Consultant-in-Training (CiT) classes. Please pray for these programs.

JAARS Prayerline

For almost 75 years, JAARS has been a leader in mission aviation—serving in the most remote and rugged places on Earth. Many language groups still lack God’s Word and are the hardest to reach. Picture endless miles of rainforest and rugged mountains—with unpredictable weather, no support system, and airstrips carved out by hand. Flying safely in these environments is one of the most challenging jobs on earth, and it’s at the core of what God has called JAARS to do. Please pray for the maintenance needs of our fleet of aircraft, the pilots, mechanics, and avionics technicians who need our specialized training, and for acquiring qualified staff. Pray for effective collaboration with our mission aviation partners around the globe.
