Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea
We praise and thank God that the Kaninuwa Bible translation project has been continued, though there have been several crises since it began in 2005. Having overcome the change of translation team members, chairperson of the translation committee several times, and lack of support from the Kaninuwa community, they were able to publish the first book of the Kaninuwa Bible in 2016; that was even the first book in Kaninuwa people's history. After this mini Bible dedication, the community has decided to continue translating the Bible and has been supporting it so far. Please continue to pray that the Kaninuwa community, especially young people, will be interested in and participate in the translation ministry. Please pray that Bernard, chairperson of the translation committee elected this year, can serve as a bridge between the village and the translation team. In the village, Jack is checking the draft on the first seven chapters of Matthew with the translation team. Pray that this checking work will go smoothly with good weather, as it is rainy season.

카니누와 성경 번역이 2005년에 시작된 후로, 여러번 위기가 있었음에도 불구하고 성경번역 사역은 지속되고 있음에 감사와 찬송을 드립니다! 공동체의 지원 부족으로 번역 사역이 중단될 뻔했던 고비가 여러 차례 있었습니다. 모어 번역가들의 변동도 있었고 번역위원회 의장도 여러 번 바뀌었지만 마침내 지난 2016년 카니누와 미니 성경이 봉헌 되었습니다. 하나님의 말씀이 카니누와 역사상 최초로 책으로 출판되었던 것입니다. 미니 성경 봉헌식 이후 공동체가 계속해서 성경을 번역하기로 결정하고 지금까지 돕고 있습니다. 앞으로도 카니누와 공동체가 특별히 젊은이들이 번역 사역에 관심을 갖고 참여할 수 있도록, 올 해 선출된 번역위원회 의장 버나드가 마을 공동체와 번역팀 간의 다리 역할을 잘 할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 마을에서는 잭이 번역팀과 함께 마태복음 1~7장 초역을 점검하고 있는데 우기임에도 좋은 날씨를 주셔서 잘 마칠 수 있도록 기도해 주세요

Q Project: This year, the Q team hopes to publish the Epistles and Revelation. Testimony of the impact of Bible translation on one of the translators: R says, “I have been encouraged by many verses in revising Hebrews. Here are a few that really impacted me deeply: Hebrews 3:1 says Christ is God’s messenger and our High Priest. Since childhood, I had been taught that the prophet of the majority religion, in this region, was our High Priest, but here the Word of God clearly says that it is Jesus Christ who has that unique and special role in our lives. Then Hebrews 4:9-10 speaks of Sabbath rest. Before coming to Christ, I could never understand this kind of rest that I feel now. I feel peace of heart and mind through my daily life now, beyond any circumstances. People who do not know Christ cannot enter into this kind of rest and peace with God. Having faith in God and the Lord Jesus helps us to turn back toward peace.”

Q 프로젝트: 올해 Q 프로젝트팀은 신약의 서신서들과 요한계시록 출판을 소망하고 있습니다. 모어 번역가중 한 사람인 R 사역자의 간증입니다: “제가 히브리서를 개정하면서 여러 구절들에서 용기를 얻었는데 그 중 몇가지를 소개하면 다음과 같습니다. 히브리서 3장 1절은 그리스도가 하나님의 사도이며 우리의 대제사장이라고 말합니다. 저는 어릴 때부터 이 지역 주요 종교의 예언자가 대제사장이라고 배웠지만, 하나님의 말씀은 우리 삶에서 독특하고 특별한 역할을 하는 분이 바로 예수 그리스도라고 분명히 밝힙니다. 그리고 히브리어 4장 9절~10절은 안식일에 관하여 말합니다. 제가 그리스도를 만나기 전에는 지금 제가 느끼는 이런 안식은 결코 이해할 수 없었습니다. 그러나 이제는 어떤 상황 가운데서도 마음의 평안을 느낍니다. 그리스도를 모르는 사람은 하나님이 주시는 이런 안식과 평안을 가질 수가 없습니다. 하나님과 주 예수를 믿는 믿음으로만 이러한 평안을 얻도록 도와줍니다.”

Growing in community: South Korea
The new leadership team of Global Bible Translators (GBT, Wycliffe Korea) started its first term in 2020 with the vision to build a ‘community of the Triune God'. With Psalm 133 as a guide, the team intentionally spent time together in quarterly retreats, Bible and book studies, and informal fellowship to share in-depth about their lives and visions for Bible translation. Praise God that the team continues to grow in unity and friendship which has helped them work together easily. Pray that this example of a team in unity will be a model for other teams in GBT as they make plans for the purposeful building of community.

성경번역선교회 (GBT, 위클리프 한국)의 새 리더십팀은 '삼위일체 하나님의 공동체'를 구축한다는 비전으로 2020년 첫 임기를 시작했습니다. 시편 133편을 중심으로 분기별 수련회, 성경및 독서 나눔방, 그리고 비공식 친교 모임등을 통해 함께 성경번역의 비전과 삶을 심도있게 나눕니다. 팀이 한 마음과 우정으로 계속 성장하여 순조롭게 동역할 수 있게 됨을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 이 단합된 팀 사역의 본이 공동체의 목적지향적 계획을 짜는 GBT의 다른 팀들에게 좋은 본이 되도록 기도해 주세요.
Partnership providing success: Kenya
Bible Translation and Literacy in conjunction with the Bible Society of Kenya met with church leaders on 14 November 2021. They shared a report about Scripture translation progress made possible with funding drawn from the Kenya Bible Translation Trust. The Trust was established in December 2018, when churches in Kenya and other partners, joined together to raise funds for Bible translation in Kenya. Since then, Scripture was completed in several languages, and literacy work and Bible translation started in other language communities by the two organizations. Those at the meeting noted with joy that in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, a great deal of progress had been made in Bible translation. Praise God for the support and friendship of all who gave and continue to give towards this cause. Ask God to grow and prosper these partnerships.
성공으로 이끄는 동역: 케냐
작년 11월 케냐 성서공회와 공동으로 성경번역선교회가 교회 지도자들과 만나, 케냐 성경번역 신탁 기금의 지원으로 가능해진 성경번역 진행 상황에 대한 보고서를 공유했습니다. 이 신탁 기금은 2018년말 케냐의 교회들과 여러 동역 단체들이 케냐의 성경번역을 위한 기금 마련을 위해 함께 모이면서 설립되었습니다. 그 이후 성경번역이 여러 언어로 완역되었고, 두 단체에 의해 다른 언어 공동체에서의 문해 사역과 성경 번역도 시작되었습니다. 모임에 참석한 이들은 코로나 대유행병에도 불구하고 성경 번역에서 많은 진전이 있었음을 인해 함께 기뻐했습니다. 이 귀한 사역을 위해 섬기는 모든 이들의 계속적인 후원과 우정을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 이런 동역들이 계속해서 성장하고 풍성하게 되도록 기도해 주세요.
