Joseph and Ju Hong: Consultant for Church Engagement for GBT, Korea

The Hongs are thankful for the opportunities to teach, through online, ‘Mission of God’s People’ and ‘Church and Mission in Post-Christendom’ together with missionaries and churches in various locations including Mongolia, Nepal, Taiwan, New Zealand, USA and Korea. The Hongs are also thankful for the publisher’s decision to publish Joseph's second book on the Early Church. Please pray that God will use this book greatly as readers reflect on the church in God’s mission. Pray also for their home assignment in Toronto from March after four years of service at Handong Global University and Global Bible Translators (GBT, Wycliffe Korea).

여행이 어려운 시기에, 온라인으로 여러 지역 (몽골, 네팔, 대만, 뉴질랜드, 미국, 한국 등)의 선교사및 교회와 함께 ‘하나님 백성의 선교’와 ‘후기 크리스텐돔 시대 (post-Christendom)의 교회와 선교’를 가르치게 하심에 감사드립니다. 그리고, ‘초대교회에 길을 묻다’ 책의 후속 편인 ‘초대교회에 길을 묻는 이들에게’의 출판 결정이 있게 하심에도 감사드리고, 이 책이 교회의 원형과 본질 묵상에 널리 쓰임 받도록, 또한 지난 4년간 한동대와 대학원에서의 교수 사역과 성경번역선교회(위클리프 한국)에서의 컨설팅 사역을 잘 마치게 하심에 감사하며, 3월부터 토론토에서 갖게 될 안식년을 잘 보낼 수 있도록 기도해주세요.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

T project-2: The greatest need for the T community of 100,000 speakers remains lack of access to Scripture. The mother-tongue translator James* and project supervisor Alex* are translating a basic set of biographies of Bible characters. Praise God, a first draft has been completed of the Scripture texts regarding Abraham’s life. But this is only the beginning of the process! Please pray that the team will persevere through all the checking and revision steps that remain and that their work will be clear and accurate. Pray that the hearts of these men will be drawn toward God as they work on His Word. *Pseudonyms

God’s Word brings reconciliation: Mozambique
The Makhuwa Cluster is an oral Bible translation project for four distinct variants of Makhuwa, the language with the largest number of speakers in Mozambique. Recorded Makhuwa Scripture stories have greatly influenced local communities. In one town members of another major religion listen to the recordings with interest. One of the elders of that religion confessed to clashes with Christians simply because he had no access to the Bible to read and see how beautiful the birth of Jesus was. He said: “I regret having offended my Christian brothers and sisters out of prejudices. I was not aware how rich the gospel was until I listened to these recordings. I have realized that we are all brothers and sisters in front of God. In fact, I understand the Bible more than I understand the writings of my religion, written in another language, which I do not grasp at all.” Please pray for all Makhuwa to have the chance to hear God’s Word in their language. Pray for the translators in the Makhuwa Cluster, the translation consultant and church leaders. Pray for an end to the ongoing violence in Mozambique. May there be true reconciliation and friendship in the Makhuwa communities.

화해를 이끌어낸 하나님의 말씀: 모잠비크

마쿠와 언어군은 모잠비크에서 가장 많은 수의 화자를 가진 마쿠와어의 4 가지 방언들을 위한 구전 성경 번역 프로젝트입니다. 녹음된 마쿠와 이야기 성경은 지역 사회에 큰 영향을 미쳤는데, 다른 한 주요 종교를 믿는 한 마을에서 관심을 가지고 이 녹음을 들었고 그 종교의 장로 중 한 분이 단순히 예수님의 탄생이 얼마나 아름다운지 읽고 볼 수있는 성경을 접할 기회가 없었던 이유로 기독교인들과 대립했다고 고백했습니다. “나는 편견으로 인해 그리스도인 형제 자매들의 기분을 상하게 한 것을 후회합니다. 이 녹음을 듣기 전까지는 복음이 얼마나 풍성한지 몰랐고, 이제 우리 모두가 하나님 앞에서 형제 자매라는 것을 깨달았습니다. 사실 내가 잘 이해하지 못하는 다른 언어(아랍어)로 쓰여진 내 종교의 글들을 이해하는 것보다 이제 성경을 더 잘 이해합니다.”라고 고백했습니다. 모든 마쿠와 사람들이 자기네 모어로 하나님의 말씀을 들 을 수 있는 기회를 갖게 되도록, 현지인 번역가들, 번역 자문 위원, 교회 지도자들을 위해, 모잠비크에서 계속되는 폭력이 종식되도록, 마쿠와 공동체들간에 진정한 화해와 우정이 있도록 손모아주세요.

The body of Christ in one accord: Italy
Recently Marco, the director of AITB (Associazione Italiana Traduttori della Bibbia), and his wife and youngest son were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Marco was hospitalized with a serious case of COVID-19. As soon as word got out of the seriousness of the situation, various communities surrounded Marco and his family by upholding them in prayer. The AITB Board, the Europe Area Alliance organizations, prayer teams and believers in Jesus from around the world joined as one in heart and mind to earnestly intercede for Marco and his family. Praise God Marco is back home now and slowly regaining his strength. Pray for God’s shalom over Marco and his family. Ask God for his full recovery, and that he will be able to continue his vital role in a Bible translation project which is very near completion.

한마음이 된 그리스도의 지체: 이탈리아

최근 AITB (이탈리아 성경번역가 협회)의 책임자인 마르코와 그의 아내, 막내 아들이 코로나 바이러스 감염 진단을 받았습니다. 마르코는 위중한 확진자로 병원에 입원했습니다. 상황의 심각성이 알려지자 여러 공동체가 마르코와 그의 가족들을 위한 중보 기도로 이들을 애워쌌습니다. AITB 이사회와 유럽 지역 국제연대, 여러 기도팀들과  전 세계 성도들이 한 마음으로 마르코와 그 가족을 위해 열심으로 중보했습니다. 이제 퇴원해서 회복중인 마르코를 인하여 하나님을 찬송합니다. 마르코와 그의 가족을 향한 하나님의 평강을 위해, 마르코가 속히 완쾌되어 이제 거의 완역 단계에 와 있는 성경 번역 프로젝트에서 그의 중요한 역할을 계속 감당할 수 있도록 기도해주세요.
