Joseph & Joyce Park: Kaninuwa Bible translation, Papua New Guinea

The Parks and two Kaninuwa translators made a children's storybook at the Alotau Centre in February. The title of the book is Is This My Mom? and the story is about Jesus’ Resurrection based on the Gospel of Mark.  Joyce and Joseph, along with two Kaninuwa translators at the Alotau Centre, wrote the story. They also made a Bible study booklet for the book of Jonah that was basically from the translation team’s devotions on Jonah. They made 13 copies of each so they can distribute one set to each of the 13 larger families of the Kaninuwa people. Please pray that the Kaninuwa people, who love to read books in their heart language, will have a firm faith in the Resurrection of Jesus, bringing them eternal life. Please pray also that they will make great progress in their reading and writing fluency through these books.

박요섭 / 조선향 선교사: 카니누와 부족 성경번역, 파푸아뉴기니

박 선교사 부부와 두 명의 카니누와 번역 사역자들이 지난 2월 알로타우 센터에서 어린이들을 위한 그림책 (‘우리 엄마에요?’) 과, 마가복음을 중심으로 꾸민 예수님의 부활 이야기책을 만들었습니다. 아울러 번역자들과 함께 매일 아침 묵상을 하였던 요나서를 가지고 성경공부 교재도 함께 만들었습니다. 이 자료들을 각각 13권씩 인쇄하여 마을의 13개 대가족들마다 한 세트씩 배부해 드렸습니다. 자기 말로 된 책 읽기를 좋아하는 카니누와 사람들이 이번에 마가복음을 기초로 해 제작된 성경이야기 책을 읽고 예수님의 부활을 확신함으로 자신들 역시 영생으로 부활함을 믿도록, 또한 이번 기회로 인해 자신들의 말과 글로 읽고 쓰는 일에 많은 진보가 있도록 기도해 주세요.

Silk Road Ascent (SRA): Bible translation in a sensitive area (Do not forward or post it anywhere online)

Training Institute: A building project is underway on the institute’s property. Progress is being made on starting up a local business to provide income for the institute. Praise God that the director was able to register a business, open a bank account and receive funds from overseas. This solves a problem that has been ongoing for many months! Pray for wisdom to set up this business on a firm footing.  Please pray also that the Lord will guide the institute director and the board as they plan for training courses to be held during 2021. A video making workshop is being offered March 22-26 to the staff from local partner organizations.  Pray that the participants will learn well and find opportunities to apply this skill to the work in each of their language communities.

언어문화연구소: 연구소내에 건축 공사가 진행중인데, 연구소에 수익을 창출하기 위해 현지 사업체를 시작하는 일이 진척이 되고 있습니다. 연구소장이 사업자 등록, 은행 구좌 개설과 이로 인하여 해외 자금 지원 등을 받을 수 있게 되어 감사드립니다. 지난 수 개월동안 어려움을 겪었던 문제가 이로서 해결되는데 이 수익 사업을 확고한 토대 위에 세우는 지혜가 소장과 이사진들에게 있도록 기도해 주세요. 금년에 개설될 훈련 코스들이 잘 준비되도록 연구소장과 이사회를 주께서 선히 인도해 주시도록 손모아 주세요. 3월 22일부터 26일까지 현지 동역 단체들의 사역자들에게 “동영상 제작”을 위한 워크숍이 열립니다. 참가자들이 잘 배우고, 이 기술을 각 언어 공동체를 섬기는 사역들에 잘 적용할 수 있는 유익한 기회되도록 기도해 주세요.

A conclusion and a beginning: Peru   
Give thanks to God that the 13 students in training for linguistics, literacy, and Bible translation in CILTA successfully concluded the 2020 academic year. Praise God for working out His plans for these graduates despite many challenges due to COVID. Please pray for their next steps: some are currently collaborating on existing translation projects, while others prepare for new assignments in the world of Bible translation. Although 12 new students were planning to study in 2021, eight had to cancel because of difficult economic situations. Praise God for three students from Argentina and one from Peru, who began the course on 8 March. Pray That God will provide economic resources for the new students. Pray For a full staff of professors to teach the classes. Par also for good health for all staff and students throughout the academic year. 

수료와 새학기 시작: 페루

실타(현지 성경번역 자매단체)에서 언어학, 문해, 성경번역 훈련을 받은 13명의 학생들이 2020학년도 전 과정을 성공적으로 마쳐 하나님께 감사드립니다. 대유행병의 여러 어려움에도 불구하고 졸업생들을 위한 그분의 계획을 행하시는 하나님을 찬송합니다. 수료생들의 진로를 위해 기도해 주세요: 이들중 일부는 현재 진행중인 번역 프로젝트에 참여하고, 다른 이들은 성경 번역 신임 사역를 준비하고 있습니다. 금년에는12명의 신입생이 등록할 예정이었는데 어려운 경제사정으로 8명이 등록을 취소했습니다. 아르헨티나에서 온 세 명의 신입생과 3 월 8 일에 코스를 시작한 페루에서 온 한 명의 학생을 인하여 하나님을 찬양합니다. 신입생들이 재정적인 후원을 받을 수 있도록, 모든 교수들이 강의를 맡을 수 있도록, 또한 학기 내내 모든 직원들과 학생들이 강건하도록 기도해 주세요.

 
Training Intercultural Partners workshop: United States    
On 12 February 2021, 37 new cross-cultural workers finished a three-week workshop entitled Training Intercultural Partners. The purpose of this learning experience is to help new candidates further their interpersonal skills, understand differing worldviews, and deepen their relationship with God. The program, usually held on site at JAARS in the USA, was taught virtually because of COVID restrictions. Give thanks to God for each student who dedicated time to the challenges of the workshop. Please Pray that the lessons learned will stay firmly impressed in their memories as they work out details to begin serving in the areas to which God has called them. Ask God to be at work throughout their service careers to help them apply these principles to future life situations.

타문화 동역자 훈련 워크숍: 미국

지난 2 월 12 일, 37 명의 신임 사역자들이 타문화 동역자 훈련이라는 3 주간의 워크숍을 마쳤습니다. 이번 훈련의 목적은 후보 선교사들이 대인 관계 기술을 발전시키고, 다른 세계관들을 이해하고, 하나님과의 깊은 관계를 유지할 수 있도록 돕는 것입니다. 미국의 잘스 현지에서 개최되는 프로그램인데 코로나로 인해 온라인으로 진행되었습니다. 온라인 진행에 따른 어려움중에도 워크숍에 전심으로 시간을 할애한 참가자들로 인하여 하나님께 감사드립니다. 부르신 은사대로 각 처에서 맡은 사역들을 감당헤 나아 갈 때 훈련 받은 것들이 잘 기억되기를, 이들이 사역하는 동안 앞으로 맞게 될 삶의 여러 상황에서 이러한 원리들을 잘 적용할 수 있도록 기도해 주세요.

The Havu language team in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is eager to have the JESUS film recorded in their language. Please pray that the quarantine restrictions lift and that a team will be able to come record this video in their language.
